DOJ: Arizona Immigration Law Must Be 'Struck Down'

Right,like a pride thing now instead.
While I agree that immigration is a Federal area of responsibility, I also believe it is the States' responsibility to ensure that the Federals do their job. Since the Federals (currently led by Barack Obama and his political party) have refused to stop ILLEGAL immigration (and in fact seem to encourage it, as does the President of Mexico), the state of Arizona has the right and responsibility under the U.S. Constitution to attempt to stop ILLEGAL immigrants from overwhelming Arizona and its public institutions such as schools, jails, and hospitals.
I have heard on the radio (but have no direct proof it is so) that the Arizona law actually duplicates what Federal law says must be done, changing only WHO DOES IT. If that is so, then logically, if the courts do strike down the Arizona law, they must also strike down Federal law! Are we ready for that? The result would likely be unlimited immigration into our country by anybody, with "us" having to accept the influx of people and the related social costs without any restraints. Of course, it seems that this scenario is EXACTLY what some politicos seem to want!!
NOTE: If the only challenge to the law is that the state of Arizona is usurping Federal responsibility, then the courts should logically have to decide that the Federals must begin enforcing its own laws. THAT is not likely to happen under this President and Congress, and so the States should counter-sue to force the issue.
As far as the charges by liberals that "racial profiling" would happen (and some say is already happening), my answer is as follows: If a person who is black robs a bank, you would look for a black person to arrest for the bank robbery. If a white person were to steal your car, you would look for a white person. If a man commits a crime, you look for a man, not a woman. Logically, if the ILLEGAL immigrants who are in Arizona are of Hispanic background and only speak a Hispanic language, there is sufficient reason to expect that a Hispanic person who speaks only a Hispanic language is potentially an ILLEGAL immigrant. Police officers know that the search for criminals (and ILLEGALs are criminals by definition) is a search for the race/height/weight/sex/etc. of the reported criminals, not for "everybody". My point is that SOME profiling is necessary to catch the bad guys.
Please note that MOST of the ILLEGALs coming across our southern border are Hispanic. MOST of the ILLEGALs also seem to be criminals in their own country. Why would we want to keep them in our country as citizens?

I am not sure this law will stand, but I think the problem goes much deeper. As long as illegals can get work, they will continue to cross the border. Nothing, we do will stop it. Look, drugs are found in prisons and they are pretty secure.
I believe we first need to strengthen the border using manpower, fences and possibly drones. We need to make the penalties severe for illegals who commit violent crimes and those who come back two, three or more times. We also need to have a path so that the ones here can earn citizenship. And lastly, we need to clamp down on employers who employee these illegals and exploit their labor.
I do doubt we ever see much of this; both parties have use for these illegals and they can always be used political tools by politicians.

The law is unconstitutional because it oversteps Federal authority. The Constitution gives immigration law to the Feds, and the States can not usurp that authority.
This is a total waste of US taxpayer money and it's all about either the federal governments active support of illegal immigration contrary to law or the arrogance and pride of officials who believe they are above all law and have exclusive rights to enforce the law.
Arizona hasn't done anything wrong! In fact, they're doing the right thing by helping the federal government. All they're doing is turning over any illegal aliens they can identify to the Border Patrol if they are found in the routine course of other law enforcement work.
Will the federal government also sue Arizona if they arrest a bank robber and then turn them over to the FBI?
Arizona is to commended for taking the initiative to help proactively deal with the serious illegal immigration problem we all face and which is out of control in their State. They have a duty to protect their citizens. They have a duty to enforce law and order and, if some other agency fails to do so, then to step in and take care of that.

Hogwash! The federal government's authority has not in any way been usurped Arizona's law and more so than those concerning kidnapping, bank robbery, or any other laws. Arizona has done the right thing. The US Attorney General and his boss ought to be run out of town over this. They're just being arrogant and prideful. They can't stand it that Arizona is doing something that will not or cannot do.

On the other hand, I oppose the government saying that a state has no right to defend their own laws and to enforce these laws. The Federal Government is wrong. This is clearly an act where the federal government is overstepping their bounds of states rights. I do think the state has the right to deport people and to restrict who enters their land.

Can we not all agree, however, that the feds have totally abdicated their responsibility as to border enforcement?
So when they bail out...what's a state to do? Put out the welcome mat? The feds have made it clear that they have not done their job, nor will they do it.

To the Feds the Constitution is a mostly meaningless document.
It's not just the illegal immigration and the violence of the drug cartels.
There is a bigger issue.
Sooner or later someone will slip through our borders (legally or otherwise) with a WMD and detonate it.
They have already done it with aircraft used as missles.
This time probably through Arizona if the federal government mandates the continued lawlessness at the border.
The destruction of "The Great Satan" and the State of Israel is the sworn and publicly stated mission of life of the radical followers of the "religion of peace" and one of their leaders is working 24/7/365 toward this goal.
It almost seems like we are providing them opportunity to fulfill their motive of our destruction.
The administration promised 1200 troops to Arizona but instead they got slapped with a Chicago style law suit for being arrogant enough to want to protect the lives of American citizens.
Oh well, time for another 18 holes of golf.
When this destruction happens then action will be taken (well, maybe).

That is what Obama has done regarding illegal criminal immigration. When the Fed is intentionally not doing their job the states will take up the law equivalent to the Fed law so as not to be a contradiction and protect themselves. I would imagine if it were your family being slaughtered down there you wouldn't be so flippant.
