23% Say U.S. Government Has the Consent of the Governed

The notion that governments derive their only just authority from the consent of the governed is a foundational principle of the American experiment.

However, a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 23% of voters nationwide believe the federal government today has the consent of the governed. Sixty-two percent (62%) say it does not, and 15% are not sure.

    SNIP

...Scott Rasmussen observes that the American people are “united in the belief that our political system is broken, that politicians are corrupt and that neither major political party has the answers.” He adds that “the gap between Americans who want to govern themselves and the politicians who want to rule over them may be as big today as the gap between the colonies and England during the 18th century.”

I'm sure your remark is with tongue in cheek. I'm sure if you have ever been in combat, your recall how bad it feels to be shot at or hit and how bad it feels to shoot at another human being. Not a good feeling!!!!

I will give the left credit credit, they never give up pushing, no matter how many times they lose. For the most part they have taken over education in our government schools and teaching and leading the students to the left as the correct way.

Three steps forward, two steps back.

Poll is meaningless unless we know the exact questions asked. Americans are happiest when complaining.

The questions are available unless you're too lazy to look 'em up and would rather complain.

The 62% are wrong. These people were elected less than two years ago. How can they 'not have consent' when they were freely and legally elected?

If there is any validity to these emotions everyone has their chance to change it in November. No revolution is needed.

BTW, when sources are quoted posters are expected to provide a link for copyright purposes.

I recall the polls had Truman losing to Dewey, I think. How quick we forget the loser. I've never been much on movies but I got into the habit many years ago for a while of reading movie reviews and then following how much money they made, they were very different for the most part.

I can't stand most fast food places and I hear all the time how bad the meals are, but I always see cars at there places when I drive by. Something don't add up. I think BHO is the worse president in my life time, he has passed Carter for that spot.

We shall see after the election this November and then in two years if the polls are correct.

This particular poll doesn't pick a winner. It merely reflects the attitude of the public toward disenfranchisement by government.

The best example I can think of is the healthcare debacle. A rogue Congress over -rode what was clearly the will of the people. They will pay a price.

This poll doesn't point toward Obama in particular.

Then, you disagree with this conclusion:

I understand my friend, but people are very fickle, what they say today isn't always how they feel tomorrow. Also what would the vote have been if it was are you going to vote for so and so? Many times we say we don't like the job on congressman or senators are doing but they keep winning reelection.
