Royal aides asked Ministers for help with Palace heating bill

Royal aides pleaded for the cash as they claimed gas and electricity bills had risen by more than 50 percent in a year

Note: Prince Charles recently took a Royal train ride at a cost of, I think, some 80,000 pounds to promote the Global Warming agneda, which agenda, as Obama has told us, causes electricity rates to "skyrocket"

She could get a smaller place. We did that a few years ago and it worked wonders with the heating and cooling bills ;)

Yeah? And who do you think will buy her house? Especially in this bad economy. And if she can't afford to heat the place she has now, I doubt she can afford a second place while she still owns the first. I think she is stuck with it.

Oh how little is known about the Queen, her family, her wealth, her dwelling places, and how the press loves to rake against royalty. They also neglect to mention how much the royals give back to society, such as helping to rebuild East London using much of their own wealth.

How Prince Charles stepped up to the plate when the Welsh sheep farmers faced disaster because of disease.

Or when the Queen determined she should pay taxes like other hard working Brits. Or the fact that she pays the wages of many of the royal family! Amazing, innit!

During the war, the royals risked their own lives to visit the bombed out streets of London and be with the people. We remember!

Best to stick with your own problems in the White House and leave the royals to us.

Cheers,

Jim

All of which begs the question,...where did they get "their own wealth"?

Precisely.

By sheer accident of biology, these individuals have inherited (and continue to inherit) the wealth of the people.

Every time I hear attempts at justifying the existence of the British monarchy I just laugh because none of them really make any sense.

Seriously, take all the money that they get a year (don't take away their own wealth) and the money it takes to run their silly little facade and start programs that help people (or gives away free dental work) and see how England becomes a beacon as a helpful nation. (Wow that was a long sentence)

If you're gonna have a Prime Minister and a Parliament you don't need the monarchy. Makes no sense to me.

Under British law, the Queen has to give Royal Assent to all bills passed by Parliament for them to become law. She has substantial reserve power that she can use, if needed.
