Hey, if you like the way it's handled, fine...

...but in the name of intellectual honesty, one must abandon Janet Napolitano's ridiculous argument of, "Hey, if you don't like it, you don't have to fly."

Why? Because the same "security theater" is being expanded, or hinted at expansion, to other venues: Courthouses, train stations, bus, metro, etc...

My point: Now, the same argument would have to be..."You don't like it? Don't travel. You don't like it? Don't conduct legal business."

Once again...it doesn't have to be a question of security vs. no security...but at some point, a tipping point is reached.

You can make other arguments to support these "security" measures...but "you don't like it? You don't have to __________" will no longer hold water. When our basic day-to-day activities become subject to security theater, then we no longer have an option. Most of us can refrain from flying. That number drops the more scanners, and TSA-type security theater we consider adding.

better-trained agents--much like the Israelis.

I'm willing to pay more for better-trained, professional agents, agents that are more interested in national security than they are unionization. Agents that can make intelligent decisions and actually evaluate situations.

But having said that...if we had to turn every public building into a fortified bunker...no, I'm not willing to go there.

Simple. We already have a constitutional remedy. It is called the 2nd Amendment. If everybody were armed we wouldn't need a bunch of under trained over paid 5th grade drop outs engaging in useless theater to "protect" us. We could protect ourselves.

First the fascists come after our right to protect ourselves (2nd Amendment).

Then they come after our right to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures (4th Amendment) and because we have already lost our ability to protect ourselves we can do nothing but speak out in protest.

Next they will come after our right to speak out (1st Amendment) and our freedom will be a thing of the past.

The problem is not a simple one. First we are seeing a corrupt government constantly denying us of our freedoms and rights. The justification is safety. By the way this really got its send off under President Bush and this current administration is simply taking it to the next step and this is not the end of it. Then we have a very large portion of the country that is passive.
I have and intend to continue to contact the White House as well as my representitives. Also I will not fly until this is resolved although I really don't think it will be resolved. Now I understand that some say not flying is impossible because of business and other reasons. However that is an excuse. Just shut down everything and see what happens. Also I am asking every military person to ask to be relieved of duty since the freedoms they are fighting for are being taken away from the people at home by a corrupt government. Also I am asking that those could join, not to join our military because of this. Alone nothing will happen, but if the people stand up and make it clear that this corrupt government will not be allowed to take over we will be heard.

Agree, don't fly. In the last 30 years I have only made 2 round trip flights, both for funerals. The next family funeral will probably be mine. Problem resolved.

So what happens when the same security protocols are put in train, bus stations, courthouses, etc?

"Just don't renew your license."
"Just don't travel."
"Just don't do jury duty."

How many "just dont's" until one asks, "hey...isn't this a bit over the top?"


Kind of gets problematic, giving up all those Fourth Amendment rights, doesn't it?
