Very interesting article. It will be interesting to see if anything develops out of this. Halliburton has already to pay a $579 million to the Justice Dept. for violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. But a mere $579 million is chump change to a company whose annual report reports revenues in the billions.

There have been numerous articles in the press for a number of years on this.

I wonder if Nigeria is going after those who accepted the bribes?

I'll be filing charges against Nigeria for allowing their citizens to continually attempt to scam those in other countries.

Nigeria is a corrupt third world country. Who cares what they think?

AMEN! Also, it is impossible to do business in Nigeria without paying bribes. It is an accepted and expected practice irregardless of the laws on their books!

I just have to wonder who put pressure on them to do this?

Could this be a "Wag The Dog"?

Interesting how the tides are turning worldwide.

Nigeria's ready to prosecute folks for corruption.

The USA takes folks that don't pay their taxes, and puts them in charge of the US treasury.

    Go figure.

I was going to phrase it as: "Nigerians upset someone is scamming them?"

We can't clean up the entire world but you all object to one of your slime bags being required to pay up for his sins.

I believe if all the "slime bags" in politics were required to pay up, we wouldn't have nearly the debt problem we have now!

Bill, and what about "Your" Slime Bags? Or, are you so decieved to think *they* are as pure as the driven snow?

And, didn't Cheny put his holdings in recievership and divest himself of the day to day at Halliburton during this period?

And, while we're looking for scapgoats let's sue obama as the head of all the graft and corruption of the tarp and bailouts! After all he is at the top and he says he's in charge. Why not? Sounds logical and fair to me!

Who's defending him on this thread?

He's not "mine," either. I don't own, rent, or lease the former VP.

Basic facts and logic once again elude you.

Hey - do you supposed that what really happened was that Cheney received an e-mail from someone in Nigeria saying that they were going to take him to court if he didn't fess up some money?

I mean, isn't that how some of the Nigerian e-mails go?

    :tongue3:

Those Nigerians better be careful. He might invite them to go hunting.

    :D :

I can just see the testimony now:

The former VP: "Well, your Honor, it went like this: I was meeting with a Nigerian official to tell him I was aware of their shakedown scam. I'm not an 'office' kind of guy, so we went hunting together and talked. Here was our conversation:

Cheney: "Look, I'm aware of the shakedown you guys are trying to pull on me."
    Nigerian: "You are? Shoot!"
    Cheney: (blam)

    :D :D
