Here is another reason to never support the Res cross.

Christmas has been banned by the Red Cross from its 430 fund-raising shops in the United Kingdom, according to a MailOnline report. After staff members were directed to remove any other signs of the Christian holiday, there followed criticism from both Christians and Moslems.

Christine Banks, a volunteer at a Red Cross shop in Kent, said: 'We put up a nativity scene in the window and were told to take it out. It seems we can't have anything that means Christmas. We're allowed to have some tinsel but that's it.

'When we send cards they have to say season's greetings or best wishes. They must not be linked directly to Christmas.

'When we asked we were told it is because we must not upset Moslems.'

Banks added: ' We have been instructed that we can't say anything about Christmas and we certainly can't have a Christmas tree."

This is no surprise as the UK has already become a deFacto Muslim State.

    What!?

It's the Red "Cross" not the Red Crescent.

Yep, they need to change their name from the "Red Cross" to the "Poltically Correct Morons."

The irony of this is just too much.

The "Red Cross" is the symbol of the blood drenched cross of Christ.

Yet these "Red Cross" officials are banning the acknowledgment of the birth of the person with whose blood the cross is stained.

Not so in this case. The Red Cross is not a religious organisation. Its origin is ascribed to a Swiss businessman, Henry Dunant.

Why does the organisation use a cross? A page from their website, http://www.redcross.org.uk/About-us/Who-we-are/The-international-Movement/The-emblem states (emphasis mine):
    Origin of the emblems

The red cross emblem is an inversion of the Swiss flag, which shows a white cross on a red background. This recognises the historic connection between Switzerland and the original Geneva Convention of 1864.

But while the red cross emblem has no intentional religious meaning, the symbol reminded soldiers from the Ottoman Empire (modern-day Turkey) of the crusaders of the Middle Ages and so in 1876 they began using a red crescent instead.
Another page from the site, at http://www.redcross.org.uk/About-us/Who-we-are/The-international-Movement/Religious-neutrality deals specifically with the topic of the OP:

    Religious neutrality

[IMG]©Info The Red Cross Movement is not a political or religious organisation. This neutrality means that we can reach and offer unconditional help to people in need whoever and wherever they are.

Often we work in countries where other organisations cannot or will not work. We cross front-lines in times of war to help conflict victims and visit prisoners of war on both sides. We can only do this life-saving work if we are understood to be a completely neutral, independent organisation. Put simply, our neutrality saves lives.

We can’t let down people in need by compromising our neutrality. That is why we do not align ourselves with any particular political cause or religious creed anywhere in the world.

And that is why we do not sell or display religious items, of any faith, in our shops. As an organisation, the Red Cross cannot be seen to be religious or political because to do so might jeopardise the access we have to people in need.

I can personally see no reason why any organisation that by its own admission is not religious, let alone Christian, should be taken to task for not displaying Christian symbols.

Hi David, thanks for your response and it is a valid point.

But personally, I don't think it matters what they claim David, in that the cross has been a symbol of Christianity for 2 millenia.

If they wanted to demonstrate religious neutrality they could have chosen a neutral symbol.

What if they chose a swastika and claimed to be politically neutral?
After all the symbol of the swastika pre-dates the Third Reich.

Again, my point (admitedly my opinionated point) is the irony I see in this situation.

They have a red cross as their symbol while denying the only person attributed to that "red" (blood) cross for 2000 years.

Colossians 1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

This is IMO also demonstrated by the need of the Moslem Red Crescent Society as the cross (of any venue) is an offense to some/many/most (not sure which) moslems.

We are seeing a lot of this type of thing David.
People, organizations, political bodies, etc. resisting/rejecting Christianity even in our "christian" nation and it is escalating.

One day soon (I believe) They will have to acknowledge Him and it won't be a happy day (though we wish them to rethink).

Revelation 1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

Blessings to you and yours David in this our season of joy.

In this great land of New Zealand, we can see the odd Christmas time advertisement from the big name stores emphasisng Christ in Christmas. These are carefully noted for my continued custom.:type:
