    I'm hearing five other fatalities.

Prayers for her family. And hoping they find the at-large suspects.

I've seen reports that she is in fact alive. Regardless, my prayers go out to all of the victims.

What a tragic event. My wishes and prayers go out to all those involved in this senseless incident.

Having spent time in Tucson (was saved there in 1966!), I can tell you that this is not representative of the many fine people who live there.

May God use this to somehow turn it into a positive thing for His glory.

The left is going to milk this for all they can. They're already linking this incident to Sarah Palin and the general unrest in response to the ramrodding of Obamacare.

    God help us.

And you all thought the worst was over after the election.

No kidding. I wonder why that would be, hmmmm....

Sarah Palin is targeting -- yes, with gun sights -- House Democrats facing tough reelection fights who voted for health care reform.

Palin's Facebook page now carries a map featuring 20 gun sights, one for each of the Democrats targeted this year by her political action committee SarahPAC. Three of the gun sights, those where incumbent Democrats have already announced their retirement, are colored red.

Don't bet the farm on that.

These things frequently turn out to be the opposite of the initial mainstream media speculation.

When the truth of the story is told and it goes against them they tend to just drop it.

    But the falsehoods live on.

Gunman was an atheist leftist, who had on his "favorite reading" list, books like Mein Kampf, and the Communist Manifesto. His Youtube page has a number of videos that see him ranting about government brainwashing and control.

No way to pin his actions on someone like Sarah Palin, but that is the top headline out there in media land right now. Even while they disavow it, they keep running the headline, knowing that it is doing its job. Sad day all the way around...

Nothing specific, but from what little he has been quoted, he sounds like he might be a wacko conspiracy theorist gone rogue.

Atheist lefties say things like, "No! I won't pay debt with a currency that's not backed by gold and silver!" ?

They say things like, "Read the U.S.A's constitution to apprehend all the current treasonous laws."

Both those lines are Tea Party rhetoric.

Well, he ain't an atheist lefty.

That sounds a lot more likely, IMO.

It's odd that he (the alleged Giffords shooter) had Mein Kampf and the Communist Manifesto on his favorite books list.

    Hitler was anti-communist.

His (Hitlers) false blame laid to the communist party in Germany gave him much power in taking over the country.

His tenure was very destructive and short lived.

    A Warning

Folks so far this thread has been relatively civil. While there is much to discuss, this was an attempted assassination of a member of the US House of Representatives and the assassination of a senior Federal District Judge. This is not how American politics works. Please keep this in mind as we discuss this event.

That assumes facts not yet in evidence.

She may have simply been in the wrong place at the wrong time and was the victim of a random nut job shooting.

Not saying that is the likely case - but it is a possibility.

That's how socialism works. I suspected he was a leftist since nothing of his politics made the initial reports. I wouldn't be surprised if he were put up to it. The left needs a martyr right now.
