"In the wake of the shooting, much focus has been put on the harsh tone of politics in Washington and around the country, particularly after a contentious midterm election. Rhetoric and imagery from both Republicans and Democrats have included gun-related metaphors, but the majority of the country isn't connecting the shooting to politics."

"Overall, 57 percent of respondents said the harsh political tone had nothing to do with the shooting"

Hopefully the fact that the majority of the American public isn't buying the big media liberal lie that "harsh political rhetoric" had anything to do with the Tucson shooting will stymie those who are pushing to limit our freedom of speech.

Only the naive believe in the connection.

Even the politicians espousing this lie don't believe it. It's a ploy, in that they hope to gain more control over the nation with more stringent measures, and hope to gain an even tighter political correctness grip.

Then all those who do not comply can be pointed out. You know, use your patriot iphone app and report them to the feds. Sort of like on "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" where those not yet converted were singled out with pointing and hissing. :)

It's the same principle employed by naziism.

I do not like the harsh rhetoric that both sides use. I do think it contributes to an attitude of anger that only builds and may contribute to tipping the unstable. That is nothing new, it is just more obvious in the internet generation.

However, I do understand the frustration of those who support Gov Palin.

Take this, which I heard on Irish radio this morning.

'...and then we have Sarah Palin, who, figuratively I suppose, told her supporters to shoot her opponents...'

No, I don't have a link. It was on the Pat Kenny Show on RTE1. If you want to hear it you can go to their website and stream the show.

Pat Kenny, himself a liberal, corrected the statement and pointed out that in the coming parliamentary election politicians all talk about targeting a certain candidate for defeat.

    This isn't about Palin.

It's about not accepting the liberal leftist tactic of accusing their opponents of being (fill in the blank).

    Racist
    Sexist
    Homophobic
    Greedy
    Heartless
    Selfish
    Hateful
    Noncompassionate
    Ignorant
    Ect.

They can't win on their ideas or ideology - so they have to attack on a personal level.

Again - this goes both ways. I am not going to bother with a list, but the right has their own hate words for the left as well. How many hate words do we see right on this forum to describe the president.

I see not even an 'olive branch' is acceptable on this topic so I will again withdraw.

    Olive branch?

Why would an olive branch be necessary?

Are we in some sort of dispute that I am not aware of?
