Mubarak hands power to the military . . .

The choice appeared to be either hand power to the military or risk a power vacuum and struggle that Israel haters and the Muslim Brotherhood could easily walk into...
Some commentators feel that having the military in power bodes better than the Muslim Brotherhood.
Even if the Military is in power they now have a mandate about freedoms in Egypt in general.
Hopefully this will mitigate things and Egypt will move closer to the west.
But, I ain't holding my breath...

Handing the power back to the military is a step backwards.
The noose just got tighter.
No one was freed.
Man, this is a tightrope. Lots of bad directions possible:
-standing still or even backtracking on basic freedoms if Mubarak stays in power.
-same to be said if the VP steps up. More of the same.
-ditto with the military...plus the added problem of, "Who's THE person in charge?"
-Another possibility: the anarchy and chaos route...that usually yields to another tyrant; or more likely in Islamic circles, an ultra-fundamentalist regime.
-An Ayatollah or Taliban-like leadership.
Unclear succession and leadership vacuums are bad. In an Islamic country, they're really bad.
Just praying that Egypt does set that part of the world on fire.
