Obama and Libya: the silence is deafening

    The Obama Administration seems to at best lukewarm in its support for a no-fly zone in Libya and at worst anti; meanwhile the Mad Dog is free to whip the butts of the rebels all the way back to Benghazi and Tobruk whilst the rest of us sit idly by and let it happen. This is probably the best chance we have to get rid of an extremely unpleasant and unsatbel individual, and it seems a shame to me to waste it.

    Every president and every congress for the last 50 plus years has faced the same conundrum. Back off of the dictators and tyrants or pay more for oil.

    If we think this is bad watch what happens when our old friends Saudi Arabia start the serious crackdown on protesters.

    Cheap oil wins. It is bad enough in the US, but the utter epitome of hypocrisy for liberal Europe.

    If the country is stable, oil will be cheaper whether it's the Libyan Opposition running it of Gaddafi; therefore surely better all round to have the former.

    And I agree - we ain't seen nothing yet at the pumps if the Saudis get 'uppity'.

    Which administration has NOT supported the government of every oil producing near east nation, for obvious reasons Iran being the exception which makes the rule?

    I see it this way.

    Obama said Ghadaffi must go, he lost legitimacy to lead. He then encouraged people to join the resistance.

    Then, he sat back and did nothing. Now a lot of folks are going to die.

    If it was his intent to do nothing, then he should have said nothing.

    Now he has blood directly on his hands. His attempt to play both sides in order to look good will most likely backfire, big time. The man is in over his head. The worst president, ever.

    The US has no business getting itself involved in any foreign civil war. Even a "no-fly" zone is not a good idea for us to get involved with.

    I agree with Bro Curtis. But at least we now have a UN Resolution which goes beyond even a no-fly zone.

    He is afraid that if the Confederacy tries a 2nd time the UN will establish a no fly zone.
