Roughly 150 students walked out of class this morning at Katy's Morton Ranch High School to protest the massive cuts forced by the state budget shortfall.
Students spent about 30 minutes outside the school building, a few even attempting a 3-mile march to the Katy ISD administration building.
"Most of them are back in class now," district spokesman Steve Stanford said...

I responded with this in their blog although not popular in this liberal and anarchist mind set of today where rebellion has replace the word of God.

This is an outrage and makes it clear that those who are the school district leaders are incompetent to lead and direct the school district if they do not call for suspensions. These young people should be expelled for the remainder of the year and only allowed to return next year if there parents post a 5000 dollar bond for each child and that bond is not refundable if their child does this again either with a group or individually.

Also if any of the students wants to make the year up in this school year their parents still post the bond as well they should be required to pay the full yearly amount per-child based on the current Texas government accounting for per child costs to school a child which is over 11,000 dollars for each child. Then let us see if they are so swift to going in on civil disobedience

Perhaps the government should take these children away from their parents?

Really? This is basically an unexcused absence. Is expulsion the school district policy for an unexcused absence?

Isn't school funding in Texas derived from property taxes and other state-based taxes? So why should parents (who are already paying for their child's education through property taxes) be burdened with posting a $5,000 bond?

Civil disobedience? They went out of the classroom and were outside on school property. They skipped class.

Isn't requiring a parent to post a bond because their kid skipped thrity minutes of school a violation of the parent's rights to keep and control their property?

For someone who complains about government Gestapo like tactics you sure advocate a lot of them.

    WOW.

I thought it was just theology where you are such an ultra ULTRA extremist, but apparently not. Your extremist tendancies are apparently all encompassing.

Do you alse believe that ALIENS from another galaxy are infiltrating society in an cunningly designed take over of planet earth?

Typical of teenagers, it was a dumb and ineffective move.

Zeros for any classes or tests they missed are in order. Might be tough on a senior that missed an important test, buit that's the way it goes.

Trouble is, you can't trust the teachers to administer any punishment at all. They are most likely sympathizers.

So the end result will probably be that the students involved just got a little free time out of class and will not realize there is always a price to pay for civil disobedience.

No lessons learned. No progress made.

It will be good training for walking the picket line when we are a 3rd world country (because every country except Switzerland will be a 3rd world country) and serfs wake up.
