Here's the deal...maybe he doesn't deserve criticism...except for how roundly he villified Bush for the handling of Katrina. In my book that makes him fair game.

But, then, I guess a round of golf and raising some cash for your re-election matters SO much more than suffering American citizens...

As one person said..."must be too many guns and Bibles for him here."

Obama, like Bush, would only get in the way. Exactly How would Obama and six cars full of Secret Service agents help?

Once upon a time, I was an enlisted instructor down in San Antonio. It gets pretty hot there around August. We instructors found out that while we were training our troops outdoors in 110 degree weather, our team chief was downtown at a strip club, enjoying the air conditioning and "entertainment."

He didn't need to be out with us; but we'd have cut him a lot more slack if he'd been enjoying the air conditioning in his office....

You know, I don't like Obama, but tornados in the south aren't anything unusual, nor can there be any comparison to what went through this week with Katrina.

Yes, we had damage and lost lives. But not every event requires presidential attention. This is what we have governors for.

Now, when California falls off into the ocean as a result of the earthquake that is sure to come in the near future, Obama better leave off his fund raising and pay attention. Right now, I'd just as soon he stay out of Alabama. Don't need him corrupting our officials.

I really believe a lot of people on this board are just looking for reasons to blame and chastise the President.

How exactly should President Obama help? Should he strap on a tool belt and get to hammering? Should be gather the legion of staffers, security, pool reporters, and other necessary figures for any movement outside the White House and stand the rubble of a destroyed family's home, hugging them, and taking away three hotels worth of rooms for his entourage?

The best thing he can do is be the President and provide infrastructure assistance to the local authorities.

I agree with this. Tornadoes are the purview of the states. Anyway, I thought Obama signed something that freed up federal disaster aid for the tornado stricken states. What else is he supposed to do?

Remember, Obama got criticized for his handling of the BP oil rig explosion and oil spill, so he's not critic-proof.

The best thing the president can do is stay out of the way and let people work. The problem is with the liberal media that crucified Pres Bush over every natural disaster not just Katrina. He had to parade around everything to try to show that he had compassion because the frilly girls of media missed Rock Star Bill's fake crying so much.

My point is more the blatant double-standard rather than the desire to see him in the storm-ravaged areas.

That's all right Rbell. I saw John McCain on the news this morning complaining that Obama isn't getting us into a full fledged war in Libya. Obama's not going criticism free.

(responding to a thread comment about getting us into a war.)

My pastor stated that tolerating an evil government is more "Christian" than fighting a war. Stability is more important than theoretical freedoms. I agree.
