Then you are not in favor of a true democracy? What deviations from a true democracy are an improvement over true democracy?

How do you define the "persons" who should be enfranchised in a true democracy?

 

Yes, we are a Constitutional Republic, which supposedly runs on the "Rule of Law". But we function as a democracy, to our peril, for instance:

The Rule of Law, in a Constitutional Republic, based on Biblical principles, prevents the taking of innocent life.
Our democracy has declared abortion legal.

 

We have a rule of law. You all are unhappy when the legal decision goes against you. Sour grapes!

 

I think you are missing the point, but I'm not sure what you are actually saying.

I'm unhappy when decisions are made by courts or voters that stand inviolate of the founding documents. i.e. the push by factions to persuade congress to ban guns.. The previously mentioned abortion rulings, and homosexual rights push.. And the proposed "fairness doctrine", and affirmative action, and a host of ideas promoted by lobbyists, that are against the founding documents and principals of our Constitutional Republic. A large part of the lobbyists job is to legislate against our founding principals.. What can't be accomplished in court, will be lobbied in Congress. This is what I think, and not researched, so I could be wrong on some points. But I know that we do no longer operate as a Constitutional Republic, but as a democracy, which the founding fathers deplored.

 

What is accomplished in Congress can be overturned by the courts. The rule of law in the US gives the courts final say.
