The dense populations of the east and west coasts, which lean heavily to the left, would be very difficult to overcome by right-leaning red states in the middle of the country. So, naturally, 1-person-1-vote sounds pretty good to Democrats, and they have the ignorance of Americans in areas of history, government, and law on their side.
