Heaven is for real--book

skeptical here. Satan is pretty familiar with the layout of Heaven as he used to be a resident.

 

Oh please, invoking Satan...really?

Its a good book. I've used it in counseling people who have lost a loved one (including two families who lost young children.) The book has been helpful.

Anyhoo, I like it and think it is a good resource for everyone.

 

I was making a point that even satan has an understanding of what Heaven is like...just because someone claims to know what it is like (I doubt it) doesn't make it legit.

I would have serious reservations on anyone counseling anyone based on a book like this. There is a book that tells us Heaven is for real...it's called the Bible.

 

Since it's almost 2,000 years since the apostles walked the earth I don't trust people that claim to have personal revelations from God.

Supposing someone made a case for being healed by the virgin Mary. Suppose someone said they saw the virgin Mary. Suppose someone said they have a cantaloupe with the face of Jesus on it. Would you accept these claims?

Where does it end? How do you pick and choose which people to believe?

 

It's ironic, of all the pictures rejected by the boy of what Jesus looks like, he picks the one that looks like Jim Caviezel :laugh: Maybe Mel Gibson has been there too...

Maybe he got them from dreams he's had. Maybe he had dreamed he had a sister.

How many things did he say that weren't true? Maybe he said that he had a little brother he saw in Heaven but that little tidbit didn't make it into the book.

 

Scripture does tell us satan appears as an angel of light too. We cannot just accept something that on the surface looks good and harmless. God would not allow Paul tell us of the wonders he saw...but He will with a child?

 

I have read the book. It is available online in PDF format.

My assessment? Forget the book and stick with the Word of God. You'll get more truth from the Word of God.

In the book, young Colton tells his dad that Jesus has a rainbow colored horse. I have searched and searched in my Bible and find no mention of a rainbow colored horse. My Bible tells me Jesus' horse is white.

There are other contradictory things in the book

Heaven Is for Real is contrary to the Bible’s plain teachings:

An example of this is found on page 63 where Colton says Jesus’ horse is rainbow-colored, however the Bible says it is white (Revelation 19:11).

Revelation 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

When somebody's "testimony"/"experience" or whatever one wants to call it, doesn't line up with what the Bible clearly teaches, it is good enough reason to reject that "testimony"/"experience" as false.

1 John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

 

Anyone who turns to non verifiable information from books other then the bible for personal use or counsel is adding to scripture and falls under the curses of the bible. Treat the book as total fiction and move on.

 

What? Jesus can't have more than one horse?

I've seen the book several times here lately. Hasn't made it to my reading list yet and likely won't. Something just seems false about even though I haven't read more than the cover.
