I did pay federal income taxes last year.

Just to claify, are you refering to tax witholding (only) or was there actually a tax libiality when you filed form 1040?

Many people complain about how much tax they pay, but when they file - they actually get back more (eg EIC) then was witheld.

I got back less than the amount withheld- and I'm not talking about FICA. I paid net federal income tax last year.
