oston – More than 100 protesters from the Occupy Boston movement were arrested early Tuesday after they ignored warnings to move from a downtown greenway near where they have been camped out for more than a week, police said.

Police spokesman Jamie Kenneally said the arrests began about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday and were mostly for trespassing.

The protesters, part of the national Occupy Wall Street movement, had tried to expand from their original site in Dewey Square to a second site across the street, along the Rose Kennedy Greenway. A local conservancy group recently planted $150,000 worth of shrubs along the greenway and officials said they were concerned about damage.

Whatever happened to the constitutional right of the people to peaceably assemble? The police are getting out of hand. In Iowa, they arrested a 14-year-old girl and a former state lawmaker. Welcome to the new police state of USSA. The ones who should be arrested are people like Charlie & David Koch.

I am a big fan of people peacefully demonstrating, and while I have some agreements with the protesters on some issues, overall I disagree with them in their focus.

I posted this and this showing that in actuality we are a part of the 1%, not the 99%. A musician produced this video that I thought was well done.

We are tremendously blessed and we should recognized we are blessed. Be thankful.

The 99% refers to the US. If you lump in famine stricken Africa, yeah. Is that really your standard?

I believe we may yet see another Kent State type incident.

Magnetic,

Unfortunately, while I give my passion to human life elements, I think it is only because of a mentality of American Exceptionalism that we can argue in such a way.

When visiting the impoverished in 3rd world countries, they would love to trade any of us places.

Be thankful.... God has richly blessed this country.

They can peaceably assemble, just not on private property.

The notice informed the group of laws against trespassing on a new patch of the Greenway -- bordered by Congress Street, Atlantic Avenue, Pearl Street, and Purchase Street -- where tents have sprung up since about 4 p.m, and is also private property.

Heh.

If these morons got degrees in engineering & economics, instead of political science & psyche, they wouldn't be swimming in debt.

I am ashamed of them.

"Hey, let's go protest corporate profits. We can take pictures of each other on our expensive cell phones, & post them on our facebook page so people who buy computers can see us. Won't our $300 Kelty tents look good on the town hall lawn, as we stick it to the man, while we sip $4 lattes & sing to the guy playing the $2500 guitar? Man, we are really something."

Fiction even Steven King would be proud of!
