Read the link No such thing mentioned.

From the link: ... it raises that line for a family of four to $24,343 from $22,350. But under the new system, that threshold isn't hard and fast--it varies depending on where you live, and on whether you own your home and therefore aren't paying rent, among other factors...

There is more info regarding "What is the standard for determining who is poor?"

Just read the link
Not asking you to agree, just read....

I'm sorry you must have mistaken me for someone else. I never mentioned anything about agreeing. Not sure where you got that from.

Okay, I will ask this ? Do you agree with the link as far as who is considered living in poverty?

I'm a little confused by the numbers.

When the value of the free services and benefits from the government is added in the calculated income level goes down?

God promised us food and clothes. Paul said he did well with much and with little. I believe this country of ours is fat. We are just becoming less fat. Compare our poor with the worlds poor and you will see how fat we are. If you have a roof over your head and heat in winter that's a plus.

>God promised us food and clothes.

Chapter and verse???? The only "economic" thing Jesus promised us was hard times.

Matt 6:25,26, 30 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, [shall he] not much more [clothe] you, O ye of little faith?
