Claims 76% identify as "Christian."

... One question was Protestant, Catholic, or Jewish? Author observed that he knew he wasn't Catholic or Jewish thus Protestant by default.

I am none of the above - I am a Baptist!

But keep in mind, many who say they are Christians are simply CINO - Christian In Name Only

Many have no ideal as to why there are a Christian. They figure their parents go to a Christian church, so they must be a Christian.

I once walked into a garage - so I must be a car!

An old funny novel about getting drafted during WW2 describes filling out paperwork. One question was Protestant, Catholic, or Jewish? Author observed that he knew he wasn't Catholic or Jewish thus Protestant by default.

I am just a Christian as I don't believe the Lord is going to have a call for Baptists. I am afraid that the church as a whole has offered the Christian faith on a level way lower then what God intended. My guess is He is not going to honor what the church is offering as being from Him. If you notice all these did their deeds in his name.

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Anyone else notice billwald's bait and switch?

His thread title says "Chritianity, our state religion?"

But the thread is about the percentage of people who self identify as Christian.

Those are two separate things.

BTW how can Christianity be the "state religion" when we have a muslim in the White House?

Let the derailing begin!

When did the election take place. I know of no Muslim in the white house. I know of a man who claims to be Christian, and denies being a Muslim.

Interesting post Targus

So Bill, do you have a question or just making a fact?

As I said baically said before all who say they are Christian are not truly born again

Since when did the standard for you include proof?

I thought that in your world opinion absent proof equals an absolute truth.

The category is "news and current events. This qualifies. I am not required to have an opinion.

The implied question, "Do people claim to be Christian because Christianity is our state religion?" I don't expect Targus to understand this.

Targus a lie is a lie and suggesting or saying the President is a Muslim is a lie as there is absolutely no proof of such and totally contrary to what he claims.
Rev 21:8
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

That's right, Targus, you're going to burn forever!

Shame on you;
Matt 7:1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.

Matthew 23:13
"But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you shut off the kingdom of heaven from people; for you do not enter in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in.

How in the world do you draw that implication.

If you took a survey of eye color and found that most people self identified as having brown eyes would you conclude that they think that their eyes are brown because brown eyes is the state eye color?

Where do you get your ideas?

Using your standard - it is the truth because it is what I think and I have no proof.

And if you insist on proof then you are proof.
