Whatever happened to the Bush era GOP wailing about giving nominees an "up or down vote"?

But since the democrats set the standard.

Plus, anything to trip up team zero, right now....I'll take it.

May your approval rating always be higher than his.

For the connies, it's not about principle, it's about power. If I were a member of Congress, I'd put principle above power.

You only want 'up and down votes' when you are in the majority. Otherwise all parliamentary procedures are fair and good.

Of course this is the definition of being a hypocrite. During the republican reign it was wrong, but now it's alright. At least you should be able to see it for what it is; at least you should admit it.

In order to call me a hypocrite, you have to point out where I said it was wrong when ANYBODY did it.

    Otherwise, you become a liar.

`And that is the best thing about the upcoming elections. We will be able to get some constitutionalists on the court, isntead of the racist liberal radicals we are seeing nominated.

The agreement in the senate was that filibusters would only be used in extreme cases. Not that it would never be used. The far left democrats were blocking most all of Bush's nominees where as we have on single one here. There is no comparison to be made here. And this nominee is an extreme case.

Apples and oranges here. Let's be a bit more honest.

I don't get that, at all. That chart goes up to 2008. According to that chart, the peak started after the 2006 mid-terms.

That chart does show some of Newt & his boys actions, but it certainly doesn't show a one-sidedness on the republican's part.

So, just to clear it up, when is it OK, and when is it not OK ?

Also, I don't really trust that chart. Several democrat congressmen filibustered several civil rights bills, in the late '50s & early '60s, and that doesn't show up, at all.

    This is a silly chart.

I never support political trickery. The House limited this stuff 150(?) years ago. Time for the Senate to follow suit.
