Koemen Reverses Decision

Wonder if Koemen is going to return the pledges of the last couple of days! I'm glad I didn't send a contribution!

Abortion is the high sacrament of the left. There’s not much doubt about that anymore after Captain Awesome decided to poop on the free exercise clause last week.

I think there is some good news in this and that is the awareness about the Komen Foundation’s support of the largest abortion provider in the US is sky high now. There’s no excuse for people who assert that they are anti-abortion to give money to the Komen Foundation or any other foundation that supports Planned Parenthood.

I seriously doubt ANY charity will ever START funding Planned Parenthood again.

I had no idea until this that Komen supported them. What a shame. I wonder how much of that money could be going to fund what they ADVERTISE themselves being about. GRRRR

I could just throw up. I've stood in sweltering 100 degree August heat passing out literature for Susan G. Komen. I won't do it again. And my money for cancer research will go elsewhere.

Just heard Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC talking about Komen now being able to reclaim the moral high ground. Her comment certainly left my head spinning!

I was surprised to read how many attacks Komen had against it from left organizations. Everything from the decision being compared to McCarthyism from Senator Boxster, to not being allowed to speak at Yale University. Thought Mark Steyn's had a nice article about what happens when one go against liberal orthodoxy.

And here I was on the verge of sending a congratulatory note with a check - albeit small. The only thing that was stopping me was that I couldn't find my checkbook. Good thing. Instead, I wrote Ms. Brinker a note essentially telling her that I can change my mind too!

Kathleen Parker has a great OP-ED in the Washington Post this weekend. Here are two powerful paragraphs from the link:
Nevertheless, given the rabid response from abortion-rights supporters, you’d think that Brinker and her organization were running puppy mills for soup vendors. Even if their real reason for ending funding is because they no longer want to be associated with an organization as politically controversial as Planned Parenthood — or even if because some of their potential donors want the relationship severed — it is inarguably their right to change course.

...

The fundamental question is: Who are we? As we individually search for the answer, we know this much: Coercion and intimidation are the tools of mobs and tyrants and have no place in this calculus.
