Military Exemption

Makes a lot of sense to me. If the US Army has already trained and qualified an individual to operate a vehicle what is to be gained by another road test?
I agree.
When I was in I had to do a new driving course every time I went to a new duty station. When I was at Ft Bragg I even went through several hours of a specific course to handle Haz Mat loads. The Haz Mat course was taught by a civilian teaching the legal standards.
Let me tell you what happen to me in Zweibruecken (HQ MATCOM)
The unit needed some drivers for a Deuce and half. About 5 of us were sent up to the FE's. The NCO told us it was a stick shift. He pointed to the vehicle which was about 1,000 meters away. He then signed our DA 348 and SF 46 (obsolete - now OF 346)
A few years later I was pulling Asst SDO. I was informed I needed to drive the 12 passenger van that evening. I did not have a license for it and was told to find the TMP NOC. I found him in the Commissary. He told me that since the vehicle is higher off the ground, just to slow down when going around a curve. He signed my SF 46 and said he would update my 348 later.
Thoughts?
Insanity. I've helped retrain some so called military truck drivers.
Then the civilian road test behind the wheel of a tractor trailor rig should be a breeze.
Why not take it?
