The fact of the US having a foothold in the region should have the effect of keeping the powder keg of Iran/Israel from exploding for a while, but war is inevitable and the US will become involved whether we like it or not.

I also believe Russia is intent on staking a claim in that upcoming conflict and I see a potential danger of Russia hitting the mainland US with nuclear bombs, effectively eliminating the US as having any kind of power or presence in the remaining wars.

I do not think that the article presents any reason to withdraw from Afghanistan. It is sad that soldiers are killed, but that does not justify pulling them out any more than a no causality expectation would justify sending them in.

Soldiers know that there is a risk when they join the military. The necessity of U.S. Forces in Afghanistan should be based on the interests of the U.S.

I agree. The US news media does a great disservice to our troops in the region by giving legitimacy to the vocal radical muslims who kill Americans and even their own people for any provocation or no provocation. Who cares that some muslim books were burned by our troops in a cleanup? We are over there sacrificing the lives of our young people to save them from just such insane religious radicalism. Let the heathen rage and let us simply ignore their insane madness and just do what we have to to put the insaniacs out of business.

I say that this is war, and the troops should be given ROE that DO NOT consist of putting themselves in harms way simply because an innocent "MAY" be harmed/killed. I give the majority of our guys & gals the benefit of the doubt when this is inevitable, and it could/would minimize the shielding of the enemy combatants using innocents and/or mosques (et al) for shelter while they pour hell onto our troops.

If our guys can't fight without being muzzled by pathetic ROE, then yes, bring 'em home. If sanity & common sense rules, then let 'em stay and finish the job.

This seems to have been a problem since we freed the world in WWII. Not just the ROE in A., but the stupid meddling by politicians in Korea, 'Nam, Cambodia (I think it was), the Pueblo incident, the navy vessel that was hit with the suicide bombers in North Africa, the mid-air collision of the Red China fighter & our observation plane, etc, etc, etc.

IOW, we have diminished from a world power in FACT, to a world power IN RIDICULE, in the eyes of the world due primarily liberal "head-in-the-sand syndrome, PC, power hungry politicos, but certainly most of all because we have told God to stay out of our affairs --and He has increasingly done so! We are daily seeing this once great nation deteriorate as He more & more lets us create our own society as we "see fit", and it sure. ain't looking good.

In general, there seems to be nothing wrong with what you say. In this particular instance - your post is meaningless.

These two were among several assigned to basically live in the compound with the Afghans they were assigned to. They were in their assigned office when the shooter(s) entered the office and killed them.

ROE had nothing to do with this murder. They were in a place where, up to that minute, they believed they were safe.

The two purposes of the Afghan invasion were a contract for natural gas pipe line across Afghanistan to a warm water port and to get opium back into production. Both have been accomplished so lets pull out.

Since Obama apologized for us burning their holy books, when can the U.S. expect an apology from Karzai for the murder of our people?

Neville Chamberlain's mapped out ideas of 'appeasement foreign policy' failed miserably with much damage and death inflicted on countries and innocent people in WW2. Obama's and the rest of the liberal's similar ideas have also done much damage in the middle east and have created very dangerous current threats. Russia now claims justification for putting the US on notice of their intent to declare war on the US if war breaks out between Israel and Iran, BECAUSE THE US INVADED LIBYA WITHOUT PROVOCATION.

Of course, this is simply a thinly veiled excuse for declaring war on the US because their real motive for getting involved is because, as alluded in this post, they are after control of the entire middle east oil and gas wells. Russia doesn't care about Iran, Russia cares only about itself, as evidenced in their unlawful invasion of Georgia in 2008 for the same selfish reasons.

If Russia does go ahead with its planned invasion, the US will likely be the recipient of a preemptive, massive and totally fatal nuclear strike, lasting less than 30 minutes, not giving Obama room to get his teleprompter warmed up in time to tell him what to do in response.
