More bad news for the GOP, the economy is not going their way.

Umm...I hate to break it to you, but the supposed uptick has come since the midterms, so a good economy would be good news for republicans.

But your own link shows more bad news than good news, so it looks like a net loss for Americans looking for good news, no matter their party affiliation. Don't know why you would celebrate that.

Why is this bad news for the GOP? Are you projecting your own feeling onto members of the GOP? Do you like to see the economy tank when the "other party" is in power?

As the economy improves it take away a complaining point from the GOP. They would love to see the economy stagnate until after the election.

I wish the economy were booming right now. I am glad it is improving as it gives employment to more and more people. That is good and I hope the job growth continues.

Romney was crying about the economy earlier in the year and pointing a finger at Obama. He seems to have quieted down, become more subdued on that as the economy has improved.

Have you looked into his economic plan?

Here is a link to an interesting opinion piece entitled A tough day for Republican spinners

The important thing for the working people of America is the economy is heading inthe right direction. This could change drastically. It depends to a great extent on world events, the Greek debt crisis, and the health or illness of the EU. All those are out of the control of Obama, Congress or anyone else in the USA.

There are other factors that could ruin the economy. If Israel attacks Iran and forces us, as that event would, to enter another war the economy could be left in shambles. As Israel knows all candidates of either party has to look tough in foreign policy, they, Israel, knows they have great leverage now, but will not enjoy the same leverage after the election. This is a very dangerous time for all of us and especially our young men and women in the military.

Nothing about this election is cut and dried at this point. There are simply trends that could change at a moments notice ... IMHO.

I predict that job growth numbers will not sustain itself, or be only marginally positive in the next few months.

The fact is that since Obama has been President, since the stimulus bill was passed and billions and billions of dollars spent there has been only three fiscal quarters in a row with GDP growth above 3%.

    http://www.tradingeconomics.com/united-states/gdp-growth
(change the date range to Jan. 2009)

Compare our current so-called recovery with the Reagan recovery of the mid-80's when we had GDP growth of over 7% for five quarters in a row.

This is the most flaccid recovery since WWII, it's basically barely creeping forward.

Anyone living in the real world knows that the economy is not improving.

There is bad news for union employees here in the Salt City.

City police offices, patrolling the Syracuse Airport who pull up to 20 hours per week OT at a rate of some $60 per hour have been informed that OT will cease. A private security company will take over duties in the near future and only pay straight time. There will be at least one City Patrolman on duty at the airport per shift.

So what does this change mean. Personnel cost will decrease by about 2 million dollars per year! Airlines will be paying less for gate fees and be able to lower prices.

You would be surprised how many people travel to Rochester (about 80 miles Wes) to fly as their fares are often cheaper.

Lets see, cops will loose up to $1,000 a week in pay and that will spin off to lower retirement pay.

So, for you who back unions 150% - is this a good move by our Mayor (and I wont bother telling you what Political party elected her).

bottom line -with a few being cut off OT, others will now get a full time job!

    Indeed.

    Re: Thread Title

The only thing that is piling up about the recovery is the positive Bee Ess about how great it is.

I'm with Obama on this....it's Bush's fault that the economy is improving...why not everything else seems to be his fault. Of course I guess the fault wouldn't be in order here.
