(regarding my career situation) I ask “What would you do if you were me?”

I am now over 55 years old & most of my career was in sales in a territory I cultivated for one company Ive worked for over 20 years....unfortunately my age worked against me (and I had a heart attack & a bypass) so I wasnt looked upon with any degree of fondness, but my goal was to stay with this company....hopefully to retirement. This was not to happen & I was forced to leave the company. I did get a job (closer to home ) & with much less stress at half my salary 6 months ago but now they are threating downsizing & Im fearful. Also that cut in pay has caused some real economic stress with paying bills and all....I feel like I have to turn couch cushions around to find lost change to make it thru the month. Plus there is no real health care with my current employer.

I want to work & I have all this skill of having done it before. Just frustrated by the economy

Honestly, what do you think I should do?

First of all, you know I will be praying for you.

What kind of sales did you do? Would the economy be better for it in a warmer climate considerably farther south?

Maybe there's another similar business that would be able to use a man of your experience and honesty. But I have to be honest, it's a young man's game. I am soon to be 61   and know that jobs are going to younger men...except of course, the "Hello, Welcome to Wal-Mart" jobs.

Not much help, I know, but will be praying!

I appreciate your thoughts & prayers. Thank you.

Here is an observation for the youngins. Im looking at Linked in the other day & was looking at the profile of a president of a Energy company. In a 20 year career timetable he has had 12 jobs so it would appear the fellow who jumps around does better than the guy who doesnt. Think about it.

Hey bro, if all else fails, go sell cars. They are always hiring, and if you can sell, you can eat and pay bills. Some guys make a ton of money at it, and quite frankly, it's a fun job. Don't worry about your age in that industry.
