Nationally, the highest-earning 5 percent of the population take in 22.1 percent of all income, according to the most recent results of the American Community Survey. The lowest-paid 20 percent of Americans take in about 3.3 percent of all earnings.

In Washington state, the highest-earning residents get a little less – and the poorest a little more – of the pie, compared to the national average. There are consequences to raising the mw all the time. It does not really work out in the end.

    No doubt about that!

It's creating even more members of our society who believe they are "entitled". And more who can't find a job. I worked for a time at very small business. One that could have used some additional help from time to time, but could not pay minimum wages and stay in business. The work didn't get done, as some didn't have a few extra dollars to put in their pockets. There were no winners!
