With all the talk of the "Fiscal Cliff" lately, we have seen proposals from our govt to cut spending and increase taxes among other ideas to get our budget and deficit under control. I know they are targeting Military retirements and TRICARE stating our vets get more of a break than their civilian counterparts...last I remember the civilian counterparts don't sacrifice their lives and familes for their country. IMO

It seems our govt will go to any means to find the money/funds to keep this nanny state rolling along. I checked into the financial status of a few Ivy League colleges and come to find they are sitting on billions and billions of dollars each. I would beg to say churches are sitting on billions and billions. What my concern is our wonderful govt getting their grimmy hands upon these funds somehow, someway. You know if these funds were all added up in America it must come up to several Trillion dollars in a holding pattern. Please don't let Obama know this...lol...I would bet he has some financial genius right now working a plan to get this money funneled into the IRS somehow. Anyone know of any plan of the likes?

Tax increases are not intended to deal with the deficit. They are for the sole purpose of redistributing wealth out of "fairness".

    Rev,

I'm extremely ignorant of our national finances. Is there a plan to reel in our deficit? Even though I'm ignorant you must believe Obama and his socialist buddies have their eyes upon the trillions of dollars just sitting in savings accounts/CDs/Money Markets etc. They would love to get their hands on some of it. I would bet they are trying to find a way to do so. What say you?

They do not want to reel in the deficit. They do not see it as a problem. They have made a number of comments publically stating such.

Mark is right. Obama and his crew do not see the debt as a problem.

However, that does not mean they don't want as much money as they can get from people and organizations. Redistribution demands it.

Though they do know the debt will bring the nation down. That's not a problem to them, that's their goal.

Do you feel as I do that they are eyeing these vast amounts of money in hopes of reeling it into thr IRS? I could see a new law allowing only minimal amounts of savings or general funds placed upon institutions and churches. either spend it or forfiet it over to your benevelant govt...lol

I really think this could happen with Mr. Sotero

That is the rub. Taxing the so called rich will not bring in vast amounts of money. It is a drop in the bucket. They only want the rich to have less to make things more equal, more "fair".

I'm speaking specifcally about institutions that are sitting on vast amounts of money. Like the Catholic church in America, Harvard, Princeton--heck any hi dollar school. I bet if someone would add it up it would be 10s of trillions. Harvard alone has 60B in assets. Princeton is around 30B. And a lot of that is liquid assets. I'm sure Barry and his buddies look at those finance statements and water at the mouth. Especially if it is churches because they would think that mone needs to surve a better purpose.

IMO, there's a couple of ways to look at this.

Eventually, the government will find a way to tax churches and raid assets of others that they can't (won't) touch yet. Right now there'd be too much backlash from the general public. Whether church goers or college alumni. The phrase, "Never let a good crisis go to waste", comes to mind.

    Or

When the debt load crushes this country, how many of those held assets will be worth the paper they're written on? We saw what happened to our personal assets back in 08. Dollars evaporated overnight. Institution's holdings, for the most part, are subject to the same economic forces.

    Just my 2-cents.

I agree. Obama has done nothing to improve, or even maintain, America. His total agenda is bent towards "leveling the playing field" nationally and globally.

It just occurred to me that anything they do now to prepare for the way for raiding those assets will be helped greatly by the Church being raptured, being sent underground, or otherwise out of the way.

In the history of the USA there has only been one national deficit free year.

There was a time in my life when I rarely had a day go by that I didn't get drunk. The fully sober days were very, very rare. That did not make my drunk days OK. It certainly did not mean I could rationally shun the Spirit convicting me.

The corporate goal is to destroy the unions and equalize wages in terms of buying power between the major economies. Labor will be a true interchangable commodity and manufacturing contracts will go to the countrt with the lowest net cost.
