Bill Clinton had the good fortune to be in office when an economic explosion from the tech boom he had nothing to do with happened to take place.

He was also dragged kicking and screaming by Republicans into the welfare reforms he now takes credit for (which were eventually undone by Obamacare, contrary to everything we're told) and left President Bush with a recession.

Bill Clinton admits to dramatically increasing risky loans for minorities
Subprime Disaster: President Clinton Takes Credit

He shoved sweeping tax hikes down our throats, which kept the economy treading water rather than growing for four years straight, until Republicans took control of Congress and forced through massive tax cuts, which started unleashing rapid economic growth within a year.

He threatened to drag banks into court, have them fined, branded as racist and driven into ruin if they didn't lower their lending standards and start giving out more bad loans to unqualified people...which eventually destroyed the housing market and collapsed the economy (as I have explained).

Even if you ignore the fact that nobody was making these ludicrous loans to people who had no means of paying them back until Democrats got involved and forced them to (while federally insuring their losses, guaranteeing maximum recklessness) and accept the left's bogus talking point that it was Republican deregulation that somehow caused the problem...it was Bill Clinton who signed the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (the legislation they try to blame) into law.

He also put Bin Laden on the map and convinced him that the American soldier is a "paper tiger" without the stomach for war by retreating from him in Somalia, and then responded to years of al Qaida attacks by repeatedly refusing to capture or kill Bin Laden, making it illegal for the CIA, FBI and police to communicate about terrorist threats, and imposing insane PC airport policies that allowed known terrorist threats aboard our planes on 9/11.

It's just a thought, but perhaps we should be taking our advise from someone other than the guy who destroyed the economy and caused the most horrific terrorist attack in history.

It's always funny to see revisionist history coming from hard core conservatives.

There are times when I need a good laugh, and the news/current events and politics threads of this board never fails to provide it. The sources that some of these people quote, and what they are willing to believe is enough for the kind of laugh that improves your health and adds time to your life.

Just pick a thread started by some right-winger and the laughs will come automatically.

Many times you can just go to Drudge Report and get it right out of the horse's mouth--skip the middleman.

Or Newsmax or World Net Daily. These days, Rush, Sean and Glenn are also rising in the world of making people laugh.

Most opponents do ridicule or laugh when they cannot confront the truth. I don't see anything untruthful from the OP. Can anyone in here really say they trust MSNBC over Drudge or Hannity? I think not.

    Thanks for the post Rev,

There is not a single fact in the OP. Not one. That's why it is an OP, and not a "news report," or do you just not know the difference?

MSNBC got the polls and predictions of the election right. Hannity and Drudge did not. That's just one of hundreds of examples. If you only get your news from Hannity and Drudge, you are living in a bubble of fantasy.

I have asked for some specific facts in opposition to the op. None so far.

As a libertarian I have no dog in this fight but anyone who actually has an understanding of our economy and what caused the collapse of the housing bubble knows:

    1. It started during the Carter administration with the "Community Reinvestment Act."

    2. It was made worse when Clinton signed the repeal of the "Glass–Steagall Act" that effectively erased the distinctions between commercial banks and securities brokers which resulted in bundling mortgages and selling them on the securities market. The problem was further exacerbated by the Clinton Justice Department under Janet Reno threatening mortgage brokers and banks with audits and investigations if they did not fund loans for people with below market credit ratings, which resulted in the largest defaults in American history.

When defaults reached the point where most of the bundled mortgages where too far behind to catch up the "toxic mortgage" problem brought down the economy.

    The rest is history.

The opposition can only yell and stomp and laugh because they have no position. Bill Ayers taught Obama how to do this and his followers do it well, just watch MSNBC sometime.

None in the original OP, either.

Doubt that you'll get any, as it's far easier to ridicule than it is to provide factual rebuttal.

It takes time and effort to dig through mountains of "stuff" to pull out supporting evidence -- if it exists -- compared to a few keystrokes of ridicule.

As a side note: I still remember the protests outside of banks that didn't want to yield to the pressure to give loans those those who could NOT repay them. That would be one of the starting points to support the position of the OP.
