If you protect yourself- you're a "vigilante"

Roy Felber, president of the Milwaukee Deputy Sheriffs’ Association, said the ad sounded like a call to vigilantism.
“That doesn't sound smart,” Felber said. “That's why society has police officers.”
Instead of promoting vigilantism, he said, money should be found to hire more police officers and deputies.


Jeri Bonavia, executive director of Wisconsin Anti-Violence Effort, said most law enforcement officials tell her the community should work on taking guns off the street, not adding more.


“What (Clarke's) talking about is this amped up version of vigilantism,” Bonavia said.

Urging people to learn how to use a firearm is wrong.

Yet.

Isn't lack of knowledge of gun safety one of the big reasons given taking guns away from honest citizens?

Last night in the news, there was another slant to taking away the "right to bear arms". ABC News reports on how many guns are stolen from homes by criminals.

What's coming?

If a gun is stolen from a homeowner, the homeowner will be subject to civil penality? The push will be to make gun dealers turn their stores into the equivalent of Fort Knox or stop selling guns. Parallel to that will be something similar for private ownership.

The full scale assault on the "right to bear arms shall not be infringed" has begun on every front. It's now wrong for a sheriff to support proper training for self defense. Soon, the criminal will not be at fault for stealing a gun from a store or a home.

"Never let a good crisis go to waste." The blood of those slain children is being used to rip the 2nd amendment from the Constitution.

May God have mercy on us all.

This is how it was when I was a child. If your kids or someone else got your shotgun or rifle(not many had pistols) out and shot some one you as the owner could be held responsible. It was kind of like your car back then, what happen with your car in many cases they could put the responsible on you or part of it.

If you had left your car unlocked or window not closed all the way you could have been held accountable for a percent of the claim. Down here I believe it is still the law that many accidents are in per cent of fault or liability.
If weapon was taken out of your locked car or truck, yes they would come after you for part of the claim. One does not leave a weapon in a parked car.
If you had loaned your weapon out to some one and a year later that weapon is used in some for of crime, you could be held responsible to a point.
Your kids or grand kids or someone else brakes in and take your weapon and kills someone, you could be in trouble. It would depend on the case you had it locked up in. As I said on another post, dad had a shot gun by the bed and by his chair at all times, so if someone would have taken it and killed some one, he could have got time in the big house or probation.
Just as if you kid under 18 robed or did damage to someone you as the parent could have been held liberal I don't know about today.

So true. Down here till about the late 60's or early 70's one was responsible for much more that today. Your kids could bankrupt you quickly, by bad actions.
