We need to outlaw GPS- as well as people using tragedies such as this to support an agenda.

Note that the article purposely mentioned that he was a veteran and former missionary.

    No agenda there...

I don't see how it is, unless there's something in the video. ( I'm stuck at the airport and am relegated to using my phone, which doesn't want to show it.)

Missionaries are usually compassionate, caring people. A war veteran usually means a familiarity with guns and gun safety. This man came out of the house shooting first, asking no questions. That's atypical behavior for both military and missionary mindsets. I'm thinking there is something else going on we haven't heard about.

I see what you mean now. It'll be interesting to see if the talking points revolve around guns or mental illness (if it turns out that it was a factor).

My first thought was that it was likely mentioned to further an agenda.

Whether this elderly man fired out of fear or a cowboy mentality, it is a sad commnetary. No Christian should be so enslaved to either.

You haven't seen the video, but when/if you do you will see that the guy's driveway is quite long. The marks on the driveway where the driver tried to turn around are far away from the house. How close do you have to be to kill a person with one shot from a .22 pistol? Unless you are a crack shot, pretty darn close. That means the guy bolted out of his house, fired the gun in the air, then the car starts backing out of the driveway with (apparently) the 69 year old man running after them. He must have shot the victim at point blank range. It's quite disturbing.

The fact that he's a veteran has absolutely no bearing on the story. It's agenda driven.

Just another intended slur of our military service. The purpose of which is to say that , since he's a veteran (especially a "war" veteran), he doesn't mind killing. That's what they do, ya know.

I would guess that the vast majority of people who are shot and killed are not shot by veterans.

Pointing out he's a former missionary is the same agenda driven slur for Christians as it is for veterans. It is to point out that Christians are killers , too.

If he was an athiest, would that have been part of the story? Not a chance.

Of course its agenda driven. They have to prove veterans are a danger and Christians are a danger. Remember, we're all bitter and clinging to our guns and religion.

Looks like self defense to me. The media will hang him though, just like they did Zimmerman. The agenda must go forward at all costs.

Yeah, self defense, sure. There are tire marks near the end of the driveway where the driver attempted to turn around. The homeowner claimed the driver attempted to run him over. Yet the bullet wound is in the left side of the driver's skull.

To be fair this thread doesn't make mention of either veteran status, or faith, in either the title, or the comment.

But I would like to know why I can't find this on a reputable news source.

It is entirely plausible that someone attempting to run someone else over would end up being shot in the left side of his head.

Sailors’ friends and family said instead that the retired BellSouth employee is a dedicated volunteer at his church and has been on mission trips to Panama and other Latin American countries.
Chris Anderson, pastor of Killian Hill Baptist Church in Lilburn, called Sailors “a good man who devoted his life to serving others, and his reputation in our community has been unblemished for over 40 years.”
Sailors and his wife, Brenda, were at their home on Hillcrest Road when they heard a “ruckus” in the driveway, said attorney Mike Puglise. A neighbor had recently been robbed and Sailors was wary when he spotted two people in his driveway getting into their car.
According to Puglise, Sailors grabbed his gun as he headed outside, firing a warning shot into the air. He said he fired at Diaz only after Diaz accelerated his car toward him.
“He thought he was going to get run down,” the lawyer said....

Gwinnett District Attorney Danny Porter said he knows little about the facts of this case but said, if deadly forced is used to protect yourself or your home “there has to be some reasonable belief that you’re about to suffer death or great bodily injury to prevent the commission of a forcible felony.”
“A lot of it’s going to depend on what happened out there,” Porter said. “I know 911 was called. But I don’t know who called it, or when.”
Lilburn Police Chief Bruce Hedley said two calls were placed to 911, one from a passenger in Diaz’s car and another from a neighbor who said they heard gunshots and screams....
