DHS buying millions of round of ammo is just part of the process to disarm the honest citizens of this country. What better way to make a gun useless? It's only a club if there aren't any bullets to put in it.

The more the government buys (takes off the market), the less there is available for private purchase.

With the government in direct competition with the public for available production, the price of ammo is going the way of a piece of prime beef. How many average John Q Public can afford to buy ribeye steaks in any appreciable quantity today?

BTW, DHS isn't the only department buying ammo. Take a look at who else is stockpiling millions of rounds.

Sorry if I've lead anyone astray, if this does turn out to be much ado about nothing. Hopefully, I'll get time later this week to do more digging, unless someone else comes up with something that appears to be trustworthy and negates what I had to say earlier.

 

Well, it may be a rabbit trail but SOMEBODY is wolfing away the ammo - or the mfgs have just quit producing.
The stuff is as scarce a snowball in August, so something is happening g to it!!!
