"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." - George Santayana

This Teen Champion on Jeopardy needs to understand this famous quote. Wagering $0 dollars, The questions Leonard gave was: "Who is some guy in Normandy, but I just won $75,000!"

It may seem like a funny "question" and I'm sure it got lots of laughs, but I'm sure that survivors and descendants of some 3,000 allied troops did not see the humor.

Faced with the clue as the "answer" for Final Jeopardy: , "On June 6, 1944, he said, 'The eyes of the world are upon you,'"

I saw the clip and thought it was a pretty funny answer. The kid knew he couldn't be beat if both the other guys doubled their money. It was like the first guy who won "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" who called a friend on the last answer to tell him he was going to be a millionaire.

 Exactly right. That "some guy" is a big reason afro-boy can't be arrested for his dishonoring antics.

No - wasn't the same - true - he would be the winner (unless he pulled a "Clavin's rule"), but he was ignorant of the facts or just disrespectful

Okay, lets talk about the lack of education of history in our public schools.

It appears that too much time is spent on non-essential events in our schools.

Don't you have more spiritual things to do than posting on an Internet bulletin board? Just sayin' . . .

Wow, lighten up people. The kid knew it had to do with D-Day invasion. He probably wasn't sure so he turned it into an opportunity for self-deprecation and celebration. I thought it was kind of neat. (And I played on a high school Quiz Bowl team on weekly TV for two years.)

Let me ask you this: Take the year you were 16 years old and subtract 70 years from it. Now let me ask you relevant historical questions about that era and you tell me how many questions you would have gotten correct.

Who was the assassin of Arch Duke Fernidand of Austria?

What was the name of the last czar of Russia?

Who was the Democratic party nominee that Teddy Roosevelt ran against in 1904?

    etc. etc.
