    Interesting.

Both that this guy richly fits it, imo, and that the reasons to get on the hate list are, imo, very messed up.

What's scarier? That there is an organized LIST and people are being stalked and mapped for what they freely think and believe, or that churches exude such hatred that people feel the need to protect themselves from Christians?

Morris Dees is so far out in left field that you can't get a fix on him with radar. He has had D. James Kennedy of Coral Ridge on his list as well as Beverly LaHaye and Concerned Women of America.

Here is a quotation from WND columnist Bradlee Dean listing some of the Southern Poverty Law Center's other victims:

"SPLC has also targeted family-oriented and pro-American organizations and individuals such as:
    American Family Association
    Coral Ridge Ministries
You Can Run But You Cannot Hide International
    Glenn Beck
    Ron Paul
    Michele Bachmann
    Judge Andrew Napolitano
    Chuck Baldwin
    Joseph Farah
    Gun Owners of America
    The tea party
    Oath Keepers
    Concerned Women for America"

Morris Dees is also implicated in the shooting at the Family Research Center in Washington DC because the alleged shooter got the name of FRC from the SPLC:

Charlotte Allen, a writer for the Weekly Standard magazine, in a recent article entitled King of Fearmongers recounts Dees' career and his personal wealth. She concludes her article with this observation:

'Still, there may soon come a day when the SPLC’s donation-generating machine, powered by Dees’s mastery of the use of “hate” to coax dollars from the highly educated and the highly gullible, finally breaks down. That is why, according to Cohen, the SPLC has no intention of soon spending down much of that $256 million in stockpiled assets that has earned the center an “F” rating from CharityWatch. “We’ve tried to raise a substantial endowment, because our fundraising is on a downward trend,” Cohen told me. “Those 1960s liberals—they’re getting older, and the post office is dying. We’re likely to be out of the fundraising business within 10 years.” What the SPLC wants to do is to ensure that “hate” is forever.'

I myself remember Dees from the civil rights movement and I used to read about him in the newspapers. Now I think that he is a demagogue--when he listed Concerned Women of America has a hate group I lost all respect for him. A preacher should have freedom of speech and free exercise of religion.

Maybe we should start a web site labeling those that label people as hate groups, as hate groups for instigating hate against those who they label as hate groups.

I'm wondering about Vineyard. Has it been verified that he gained an STD himself through his own conduct and if so, wouldn't that be grounds to keep his mouth shut about how they are gained? Immorality is immorality, no matter the method. Why say one way of sinning is somehow more moral than the next, especially if both achieve the same result? Call them both sin, but recognize and be humbled that Christ died for both of them, no more no less for either.
THAT is what gets me about him. To my understanding, he does not deny his past out of the country indiscretions. What makes his sin better? Why focus on one area of this type of sin instead of all of it, when that type of immorality is prevalent in our society in all forms and has the same results?
That DOES seem like hatred to me, picking out one group to focus on.
Why? Why that one, when he could speak from experience and knowledge and have a bigger impact in the area he is more familiar with? It would be more logical and help a lot more, don't you think?

Never been a Windsor Hills/Vineyard fan. Visited there once, maybe twice. But this sounds more like gossip then proven facts. His dad's a nutball- that is a fact that I know from personal experience. Other than that...

Say anything against Sodom, and you are part of a hate group.

Political correctness harps on three thought crimes--racism, sexism, and homophobia. Actually, they have a fourth thought crime that they don't list but it is being Christian.

Gina - you may be thinking of his brother, Paul.

Like someone else said, you shoulda heard Tom's dad, especially over the last couple of years before he retired and put up his son as his replacement.

Control freaks like the people at the SPLC can't stand the idea of people believing there is a higher power in the universe than them.

I don't see anything of hatred in the church's statements. Yelling hate is like yelling racist. It gets people's attention.

You disagree with someone based upon God's word and the liberals cry hate. It just is what it is.

I don't know about Vinyard's statement though. I mean, claiming Homosexuals account for half of the murders in large cities? Some of his facts seem a bit out there.

But the SPLC is notorious for putting Christian and conservative groups on its 'hate list'. If you are a Bible-believing family-value type of Christian, they most likely feel you are a hate group.

I mean, they list the American Family association as a hate group, as well as the Traditional Values Coalition. Frankly I'm embarrassed that the SPLC is located in my state. :BangHead:
