So we pretty much know the US will not ratify the treaty ... we're not sure if the treaty will be signed by enough countries for it to take effect ... and we think if certain countries don't sign it, then it's impact will be very limited.

So what's the point of this, other than grandstanding, and maybe being able to later on say, "we wanted this, but the conservatives blocked it"?

That is the point. They will wait patiently until the next mass shooting that really grips the headlines. Probably a church. And turn it into "See! We could have prevented that if it wasn't for the NRA, and the TEA Party and the 3%ers and the blah blah blah...."

So the congress won't ratify it, big deal who needs congress when you control all the "agencies".

What do you do when you can't get a gun ban passed? You get DHS to buy up all the ammo. Viola! Guns are just clubs without ammo.

I heard Victor Davis Hanson, the military historian, say that machetes kill more people every year than guns do. You would think that the UN, a blunt instrument, would do something about machetes first. It is amazing how far left our postmodernist President is going by having this treaty signed. He is imperialistic in his lifestyle and his refusal to enforce the law and his creation of a super-rich class by his economic policies.
