I was not surprised the Supreme Court struck down the Arizona citizenship - voter bill. I was surprised how lopsided the vote was. This was a real slap in the face of the politicians who voted for the bill in Arizona and in other states that have passed similar laws.

The Supreme Court yesterday threw out an Arizona law that required anyone registering to vote to show proof of citizenship. The surprisingly lopsided 7-2 ruling held that the state’s law was pre-empted by the National Voter Registration Act, the 1993 federal law commonly known as Motor Voter, whereby qualified people applying for or renewing their driver’s licenses would also be registered to vote.

Well, based on that, It appears the Supreme court is saying you dont need picture ID to get a drivers license

What the court said was that the federal government controls federal elections. So on the application for voting, as I understand it, one checks a box saying that one is a citizen. Therefore anyone who is willing to lie on the paper can vote and it is unimaginable that any Democrat cares if non-citizens vote in federal elections as long as they vote Democrat. Of course, Latin America likes and wants Papa Government, Papa Gobierno or big government,and they are used to the idea that government is corrupt and run by bribes and payoffs and that one is guilty till proven innocent, etc. The older generations of Latin Americans came here for freedom but now the new ones entering today are here just for the money, in my opinion.

I am wondering if states and other local governments cannot separate their elections from federal elections and have their own requirements for local elections? For example, I am already required to be a resident of my township before I can vote in township and county elections. I am thinking that my township could legally require US citizenship as a condition for voting in township in local elections. They could then issue a local ballot with no federal contests on that ballot.

But the reality is that illegals are already voting and the Democrats have no desire to run clean elections.
