The way this was worded made me giggle. This man's wife asked him to pick up hot dog buns, and the story says the store he stopped at didn't have any and he ended up buying lottery tickets instead and won 4 million.

Is it just me, or is anyone else really really curious about the darn hot dog buns?! Did he ever get them that evening? Was his wife upset if he didn't? I take it the 4 mil made up for the lack of hot dog buns, whatever the case!

I personally usually never eat hot dog buns and would likely not have asked my spouse to buy them, which got me thinking - if she never needed the hot dog buns, would he have bought the tickets?

    HMMMM????

    Maybe I'm just really hungry!

Wife: For about three days, really upset that he "wasted" his money on lottery tickets. On the third day, it didn't matter anymore.

I'll take the $4 million, please. Thank you. Hold the hot dog buns.

Hey, there ARE expensive hot dogs! I'd definitely want to try a NICE hotdog! LOL From Serendipity 3. Nice beef, pretzel bread, grilled in white truffle oil...which probably still isn't any better than church hot dogs that have been sitting in hot water until they're ten times the size they're supposed to be, eaten lukewarm with no bun. Why ARE those so good?!

It probably was, but then you have to factor in taxes, inflation, processing fees, attorney fees, etc., ad nauseam.

They'll probably wind up with maybe $40.00 at the most!

That person was in South Carolina and chose to remain anonymous. I think this was a state lottery, so the $4 million is probably accurate.

Oops! Appears everyone else is right and I'm wrong. I thought there was a name to go with the winner in Gina's story, so that would mean he wasn't anonymous. Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa, Mea Maxima Culpa! <-- No, that doesn't mean I'm promoting the Catholic faith!

That is what I was referring to, I misread the amount.
Wow, that's a lot of hot dog buns!
That would be nice. Pay for the kids college, set them up with a little trust fund, then run around colleges across the country randomly paying tuition for students who needed it. That would be so fun! "BAM! Quit worrying about it, just study and do good." Can you imagine the look on their faces?

Can't blame whoever it is for staying anonymous. That would be nice to win, but probably scary too for safety concerns. You wouldn't know who to trust anymore. I wonder if people who win that much find that it was worth it?
