President Barack Obama repeatedly complained on Thursday that the public is skeptical about his decision to shut down the government rather than accept the GOP’s Obamacare reform proposals.

“When this gets reported on everybody kind of thinks, well, you know, both sides are just squabbling; Democrats and Republicans, they’re always arguing, so neither side is behaving properly,” he maintained.

But “the only thing that is keeping the government shut down… is that [Republican] Speaker John Boehner won’t even let the bill get a yes-or-no vote, because he doesn’t want to anger the extremists in his party,” Obama said during a speech given to a construction company.

“That’s what this whole thing is about,” he said, even though Republicans have passed three bills to fund the entire government, and a series of bills to fund individual agencies, such as medical research and park agencies.

Obama and the Democrats in the Senate have shot down all the funding bills, while demanding the GOP give up its popular reforms to the Obamacare program.

When he starts calling names and laying blame, he's agitated. He's not used to people not believing his crap.

He is agitated because he is seen to be as much to blame. This is not working out for him the way he wants.

Personally I feel somewhat uncomfortable criticizing the president.

However...

The president (a Nobel Peace Prize winner as well) is the leader of the nation.
Presumably the most powerful and prayed for man on earth but yet he can't come up with a compromise solution and refuses to lead, blaming others.

It looks to the world like a fight breaking out amongst the rival teams on a baseball field.

Worst, some members on the same team are having fistfights amongst themselves.

It's shameful.

Mr. President - Nobel Peace Prize winner - even if you are right, please do something besides blaming others!

It was essentially given to him as a sign of the world's disapproval of the strong leadership of George W. Bush, and gratitude the U.S. electorate had put a wimp in the White House. Bush didn't care what the world thought. It appears to be the intent of the Great Pretender to acquiesce to the world. The world likes the latter attitude better.

He's playing politics just like every President before him. He still happens to have the upper hand so there's nothing for him to compromise on. He feels justified that the ACA is the law as upheld by the SCOTUS. So the republicans had to find another way to try to undo it and this is their way.

Nothing to compromise over. He's dealing with a bunch of partisan politicians on both sides. He made a decision. It was passed into law, and upheld by the SCOTUS.

Now GOP lawmakers are withholding funding the country unless they get the President to give concessions on Obamacare.

There's just no reason for him to do that. The masses view him as wanting to give folks healthcare while they view Boehner and the GOP as trying to take that away.

Just ain't a political reason for him to make peace.

For that reason alone it is worthy of being trashed, no one knew (or would admit that they knew) what was in it.

Not a model document put forth by a representative government by the people, for the people, etc...

Personally, while I am strongly pro-life, I would welcome socialized medicine for those who can't afford it (no abortion though).

So now we are finding out "what's in it" and the consequences.

In the words of Solomon, there is nothing new under the sun. He's doing the same things that Presidents before him did. They just used different methods to do the same thing.

I think Congress should be thrown out on their faces that they would make something the law and not even know what's in a bill. Pure foolishness.

Unfortunately, as we touched on in another thread, once the government gets its hands on the tax dollars, there ain't too much we can do in terms of limiting what it's used for.

The church tends to focus on abortion but there is a whole lot f stuff being done with our tax dollars that's killing far more folks than tax funded abortions.

True Zaac, but the majority did not know what was in the bill, it was blind trust, ala the Pelosi quote.
