Dean of Washington’s National Cathedral: It’s a Sin to Oppose Homosexuality

WASHINGTON – The dean of the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. claimed during his weekly address this past Sunday that it is a sin to oppose homosexuality.

The message was part of a weekend tribute to the homosexual youth at the National Cathedral, and a commemoration of the death of Matthew Shepherd, whose slaying sparked the passage of the federal “hate crimes” bill signed into law by Barack Obama in 2009. During his speech, Gary Hall blamed churches across the country for influencing American beliefs about homosexuality.

“We must now have the courage to take the final step and call homophobia and heterosexism what they are. They are sin. Homophobia is a sin. Heterosexism is a sin. Shaming people for whom they love is a sin,” Hall asserted. “Only when all our churches say that clearly and boldly and courageously will our LGBT youth be free to grow up in a culture that totally embraces them fully as they are.”

He proceeded to claim that churches that oppose homosexuality produce a culture that is harmful to children.

I can't say I'm surprised about Hall's ignorance. What caught my attention is that the LGBT community is continuing to use the Matthew Shephard case as a rallying point, though his killers have been saying for nine years they didn't kill him because he was gay, they killed him because he had money and they were on a methamphetamine binge. But liberals don't care about facts. They're all about image, and a "cause" even when there is none.

I went to the National Cathedral once. I remember walking through the gift shop and it seemed like every religion was represented there except Christianity. It was a disgrace.

I went to the National Cathedral once. I remember walking through the gift shop and it seemed like every religion was represented there except Christianity. It was a disgrace.

Try living your life as a Roman Catholic or an Episcopalian today......now thats a disgrace. Makes me wonder why God allows such abominations to thrive in this world..... certainly they are outa the Kingdom!

Hopefully, the Dean will start another mass exodus from the Episcopal Church. The only thing holding it together now is their liturgy and the fact that the local property belongs to the national organization. The Episcopal Church has a very bad form of church government where the laity has almost no voice. Membership has been declining for years and some say that they only have another 25 years before they collapse. They are probably surviving on endowments. Their theology is neo-orthodox.
