Actually, my native state and still my "homeland" was the fifth leading state in executions up until the controversy over the use of both sodium thiopental and pentobarbital.Missouri is not one of those states known for lots of executions.
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Joseph Paul Franklin was set to be put to death at 12:01 on Wednesday morning, but for the time being his execution has been halted. St. Louis Post-Dispatch investigative reporter Jeremy Kohler first reported that a federal judge ordered a stay of execution on Tuesday afternoon.
FOX 4 confirmed that report with U.S. District Judge Nanette K. Laughrey’s office in Jefferson City and at present, Franklin will remain alive.
Just heard on Fox4KC that a federal judge stayed the execution on the grounds that Missouri changed its execution protocol without giving sufficient time for Franklin's attorneys to review them.
