NCT, I do expect *certain* entertainers to be smart, ie versed in certain areas, mainly those that do involve politics in their music. Music is very powerful, so it's rather silly to sing about social causes or politics if you haven't a clue what you're talking about.
I usually try not to know anything about those whose music I enjoy unless they fit into that arena, then I gain an interest in what they do in their personal lives, what causes they are involved in, what they donate to or spend time trying to fix, what their message is, etc..
And yes, Bro Curtis, I'm very disappointed in what I read on Clapton. I never would have bothered to find out much about him except there is one song in particular that I very much identified with and wanted to know the story behind. The circumstances were oddly similar and it actually added depth to it for me. I think that messed it up. Agh! Not think, know, which stinks because that was one of the most deeply personal songs in my life after a major loss. This is why I normally don't look. Then again, what does one expect? I know that no matter what, I'm always going to run across a human and that's fine. I just usually hope that I don't run across things so repulsive that it ruins the music for me, and that's one of the things that can. And it takes a lot. Streisand took years of trying to ignore her politics. LOL I finally had to throw in the towel in disgust, couldn't hear her sing anymore without her personal opinions hanging in the air after knowing them and it killed it! ...sorry, rambling now.
