Academy Strips ‘Alone Yet Not Alone’ of Its Oscar Nomination

"The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has rescinded its Oscar nomination of “Alone Yet Not Alone” for best original song, saying the composer inappropriately promoted it among voting academy members. Performed by quadriplegic author and speaker Joni Eareckson Tada, the song from the independent Christian film of the same name gained overnight fame when it received the surprise nomination two weeks ago."

Absolute garbage. The academy members email and call one another all the time around this time of year to talk about nominations or votes. To single this film out is utter nonsense, just an excuse not to award an Oscar to a positive, Christ-centered piece of music.

Those movies are from 50 or more years ago. Times have changed. Anyone who isn't intent on excusing anti-Christian bigotry can see that.
Think of it this way: imagine that everything about this scenario is exactly the same, except that instead of a Christian movie being the source, we were talking about a song from a film that is Muslim themed. Do you think the song's nomination would have been rescinded then? Of course it wouldn't have. Any time liberals control something in today's world, whether it be the media, the public schools, or the entertainment industry, there is a built-in hostility toward traditional values in general and conservative Christians in particular. This is just one more in a long list of examples. It is not in any way a departure.

In terms of the evolution of society, it's a VERY long time. I'm old enough to remember the 1960s. American society is radically more secularized now than it was then. Traditional values were the norm, they didn't have to be constantly defended like they do now. 'Political correctness' hadn't yet entered the common lexicon. It was a MUCH different time, and the fact that you don't seem to understand that makes you sound a bit foolish to someone like me who does.
