Allegedly George Soros has spent billions toward such a cause--especially through his Open Society Foundation. However his ultra-left and wicked purposes might detract from any noble purposes. ;-)

No I did not miss it. I was referencing his extremely disfunctional and sorted past life. Actually wondering how that influences his interaction with the world today. For example, could he be labeled a boarder line sociopath?

I guess it depends on your definition of a liberal. There are a number of people that have given it all away. Tom Shadyac, Chuck Feeney, Priscilla Bullitt Collins, etc.. Makes for a fun read.
One thing that tends to shut my mouth, no matter what I think of someone, is when I see them go hands-on in situations. IE a liberal that has views I detest, but they're out there in a third world country with no amenities, working hands-on, when they could have sent someone else. They already donated a million or five, but they still will go and do stuff themselves.
Can't really sit back and criticize from my computer.

I guess if they should give away their millions to achieve equality, we should have given away all our tens and twenties to help the poor and the widows before we criticize the ones who haven't given away their millions yet...I haven't done that to enough of a degree to complain about anyone else not doing so.
