80 percent drop in deportation of minors from bush to obama

The number of illegal immigrant minors being sent back to their country of origin has dropped 80 percent under Barack Obama.
In 2008 there were 8,143 deportations. In 2013 there were 1,669.
According to the Los Angeles Times, this lack of border law enforcement is now an impetus to other minors seeking to come here illegally.
Even "nonborder states" feel the weight of it, and deportation from those states has dropped significantly too. "About 600 minors were ordered deported each year from nonborder states a decade ago. Ninety-five were deported last year."

Cherry picking and muddying the waters again with carefully selected narrow figures again I see.

Obama is deporting immigrants faster than Bush. Republicans don’t think that’s enough.

As of July, Obama deported 1.4 million illegal immigrants since the beginning of his administration — that's 1.5 times more immigrants on average than Bush deported every month, according to official numbers from the Department of Homeland Security*. But that's only part of Obama's deportation strategy: The administration's stated goal is to prioritize the deportation of criminal, dangerous illegal immigrants. And it's promised to make a new program called Secure Communities mandatory by 2013, which would force local law enforcement to share fingerprints of those arrested with the Department of Homeland Security, which has immigration records, through the FBI.

You know, people really need to think before they post. It is better to let people think you are inept than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

With that said, does anyone know what age group currently dominates the excellerated flood of illegals coming into the US?

Thaaaattttssss right.....minors.

It is really frustrating to have to think for other people.

And we have this today to look forward to: More lies, obfuscation, and spending (of course) from and by Obama.
Fox News: Obama seeking emergency funding for border, but holding off on deportation requesthttp://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/07/08/white-house-funding-border-policy-changes/http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/07/08/white-house-funding-border-policy-changes/

President Obama plans to ask Congress on Tuesday for billions in emergency funding to deal with the crisis on the U.S.-Mexico border, but reportedly is holding off for now on seeking legal changes to speed up the deportation process for illegal immigrant children.
Spend more money and do nothing that could immediately resolve the problem. What else is new?

Harry Truman put it more colorfully, but the gist of his quote was the same.

Besides which, as Fox News pointed out several weeks ago, the deportation numbers are inflated by "catch and return," meaning they are turned back immediately. MediaMatters, the so-called "media watchdog" that pays no attention whatsoever to the liberal bias in the media but instead focuses on lying about other news outlets, claims, essentially, "So what? Those are still deportations." ICE's own numbers prove them wrong.
National Review: Obama Administration Inflating Deportation Numbers http://www.nationalreview.com/artic...n-inflating-deportation-numbers-andrew-stileshttp://www.nationalreview.com/artic...n-inflating-deportation-numbers-andrew-stiles

The ICE report noted that of those 368,644 removals, 235,093 (or nearly two-thirds) were carried out on individuals “apprehended while, or shortly after, attempting to illegally enter the United States.” This shows that while the Obama administration continues to deport illegal immigrants in large numbers, most of these removals do not constitute a “deportation” in the conventional sense.
That means that there were, in reality, only 133,551 deportations, by ICE's own admission in its guidelines, which state that a removal is defined as “the compulsory and confirmed movement of an inadmissible or deportable alien out of the United States based on an order of removal.”

Other deportation numbers come from "catch, return, and catch again," in which an illegal is caught at the border, immediately sent back, and then caught again at the border and again sent back, within three months of the first incident. Based on that theory of counting deportations, I've got 10,000 cats, because the one we actually do have has gone in and out the front door that many times.

Hey, if Obama can count the same person being caught ten times and sent back as "ten people being deported," I can count my cat as a new cat every time he leaves the house and comes back.

It takes a great deal of gullibility to actually swallow "facts" like these. I guess we have a great many gullible people on BB.

You are ignoring the fact that Obama has to abide by the law concerning alien children that was passed during Bush administration.

Meanwhile, on Capitol Hill, Democrats noted that a 2008 law requires the administration to offer extensive and time-consuming procedural protections to the young illegal immigrants. "In 2008, then-President George Bush signed the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act," Rep. Bennie Thompson, ranking Democrat on the House Committee on Homeland Security, said at a hearing. "The law recognizes that special care is demanded when dealing with the young and vulnerable. Under these laws, the Border Patrol is required to take unaccompanied children who are not from Mexico into custody, screen them and transfer them to the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Refugee Resettlement."

So this thread is complaining about something that's taking place because of a law the previous President passed in order to be more compassionate to alien children?

Some can be on such a vendetta to portray the current President as inept and bad at everything he does that it never seems to enter the mind what it makes the Body of Christ look like to keep acting this way.

Well, you know it is Obama's fault even if someone else did it, like the Iraq war, the great recession that started before he took office .... little things like that. [Sarcastic? Who me?]

Here is a link to the law that Obama has to abide by. I am sure the right-wingers want to read it for themselves.

It's this type of behavior that continues to tell me that politics plays too big a part in the lives of Christians. Loving others and completing The Great Commission seems to pale in importance to us when it comes to politics.

The William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008 (emphasis added for certain gullible people and/or deliberate purveyors of misinformation) was the revision of a Clinton era bill. It was amended to limit it's powers as enacted by the 106th Congress and signed by Slick Willie. It was not intended to slow-walk deportations as in the situation at the southern U.S. borders as Obama is claiming. In other words, Obama is lying again.

ICE noted in a news release from December 23, 2008 that
... Prior to the signing, White House Deputy Press Secretary Tony Fratto, said that the bill "has been a priority issue for the administration in preventing the trafficking of persons around the world. So this is a piece of legislation we're very proud to sign."

The trafficking bill signed today was named after English abolitionist William Wilberforce, who led the Parliamentary movement against the British slave trade in the early 19th century.
Human trafficking, by legal definition, is "the illegal movement of people, typically for the purposes of forced labor or commercial sexual exploitation." No one alleges the children at the border today are victims of "human trafficking." Not Obama. Not immigration activists. No one. That is because they aren't. Yet the president attempts to pass off a lie as the excuse to slow-walk deportations. Yet again the smell test gives the lie to this president's and his misguided supporters' claims.

You need to read more than right-wing publications ... assuming you read any news. Do some research and you will find that you are wrong in your post above.

I don't think it matters because for a long time with a lot of people it hasn't been about compassion and trying to help people, but rather about the next "gotcha" moment to malign the President or any POV that doesn't align with a particular political view.

Extremely dishonest. TNID's links are Government information sites, and are the results of research. They are not "right wing" sites. My bet is you didn't even look at them. And we all know you couldn't research your way out of a paper bag.

C4K, you're really disappointing, lately.

No trafficking? Just ain't true. Sadly there is a lot of trafficking of children. There is a lot of trafficking of older women also.

In the TIP Report section detailing the state of affairs in the U.S., it says, “The United States is a source, transit, and destination country for men, women, and children – both U.S. citizens and foreign nationals – subjected to sex trafficking and forced labor, including domestic servitude.” The paragraph concludes, “The top countries of origin of federally identified victims in fiscal year (FY) 2013 were the United States, Mexico, the Philippines, Thailand, Honduras, Guatemala, India, and El Salvador

Mexico – United States

Flor Molina was a hard worker and a good seamstress, working two jobs in Mexico to support her three young children. When her sewing teacher told her about a sewing job in the United States, she thought it was a good opportunity. Once they arrived at the border, the woman who arranged their travel took Flor’s identification documents and clothes, “for safekeeping.” She and her teacher were taken to a sewing factory and immediately began working. Beaten and prohibited from leaving the factory, Flor began her days at 4:00 in the morning; she not only worked as a seamstress, but had to clean the factory after the other workers went home. After 40 days, she was allowed to leave to attend church, where she was able to get help. With the help of a local NGO, Flor was able to break free. Now, she is a leader in a U.S. national survivors’ caucus, and advocates for victims’ rights and supply chain transparency.

I allege that some of the children are likely victims of human trafficking - here in the United States, and that is why this is allowed to happen.

IT SICKENS ME.

The numbers are being with-held. Governors, citizens are not being told exact numbers of children being moved to federal land in the states. Why hold back on the numbers? Why be so hesitant to allow state officials to tour facilities and access information?

Children who come here do not technically exist if they're not properly documented, leaving them open to all kinds of scandal and horror. They can be used for any type of labor or human desire and who will miss them? This is a nightmare for the children and anyone who cares about them, and a dream situation for criminals and the sick-minded.

Sweat shops, trafficking, not-so-legal adoptions - this stuff exists in the United States. A flood of new victims to choose from just arrived. From a human compassion viewpoint - this is my concern. Naturally, there is a concern for our country and the ability to take on the costs and concerns of so many at once. About laws not being followed. However, there are basic human rights and safeties that any child, no matter who they are or where they come from, should be provided with. Like the right to not be used, raped, stolen, etc.. That would be above and first over the other concerns. Even if their own country didn't afford them those safety measures - they need them while they are here, even if they are going to be booted back out. And that can't happen if people aren't even going to be honest about them being here.

No one denies these conditions exist in the U.S. It is frightening that this country can allow such criminal activity inside it's borders. But Gina, that is not the case with these children at the center of the chaos at the border.

That happens with children who are smuggled in by the typical "coyotes" operating along the Mexican border, no doubt about it. These children -- and some of them aren't children, but older adolescence and even young adults -- are immediately turning themselves in to the first ICE agent or Border Patrol officer they encounter. There is no exploitation going on with them. In fact, it appears they've been instructed in precisely the correct action to take once they are over the border. Who do we suppose are telling them to do that, anyway?
Sweat shops, trafficking, not-so-legal adoptions - this stuff exists in the United States.
Absolutely. Again, agreed. No doubt about it. But that is not what these kids are here facing. They are pawns of this government and this administration, for what purpose who can know? It should be more alarming to us that they do seem to have a knowledge of exactly what to do to avoid the human suffering and slavery that afflicts most other illegal children coming into the U.S. There's a reason they have this knowledge. We need to discover why, because our government is not going to tell us.

Of major concern to us as well is the threat of slavery enveloping them once they have been "processed and released." It is entirely possible that the U.S. government, under the direction of Barack Obama, could be criminally liable for what happens to them once they are released from U.S. ICE custody.

Reports indicate these children are being processed through U.S. temporary government custody and if found medically and mentally sound, simply released with no sponsorship or legal guardianship being arranged. If so, it is more than likely they are subject to being preyed on by the human traffickers lurking int he neighborhoods of the processing centers. In that case the government in general and Barack Obama in particular are exercising negligence in the performance of their duties. Ultimately it is the president who should be held criminally liable if anything happens to any of those children treated in that fashion.

All this leftie vs rightie stuff and no one stops to wonder if maybe both Bush and Obama are just puppets being worked by the same globalist oligarchy.

NEW YORK – In recent weeks, both General David Petraeus and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., have woven into public speeches the theme of combining the United States, Canada and Mexico into a single, North American Union.

“After America, there is North America,” explained Petraeus, the former U.S. military commander and former head of the CIA, to a panel entitled “After America, What?” held at the Margaret Thatcher Conference on Liberty on June 18, 2014, hosted by the Center for Policy Studies in Great Britain.
