Charles Krauthammer, George Will Slam Obama for Calling Murdered Christians ‘Egyptian

On Monday night, the panelists on the Fox News Channel (FNC) show Special Report excoriated the Obama administration for saying in a statement that the Coptic Christian men from Egyptian beheaded by ISIS in a video along the Libyan coast were “Egyptian citizens” and labeling Islamic State fights as merely “ISIL-affiliated terrorists” instead of further identifying them as Muslims or Islamic extremists. Fox News contributors George Will, Charles Lane, and Charles Krauthammer took turns criticizing the administration for being “burlesque,” and “truly pathological in its inability to actually state what's going on” in its wording and refusing to diagnose the expanding global threat of the terrorist group. Will even joked that bets will be taken “as to when the first time they will actually identify an orange is an orange.” -

I have three theories why the Administration continues to downplay the ISIS threat:

1. Fear of fomenting full-scale attacks on U.S. soil.

2. Fear that Obama and others in the Administration will be personally attacked.

3. Religious fear.

I am sure that these are overly-simple.

How about...

4. President Barack Hussein Obama II is a Muslim?

But wait, he said he is a Christian.

I think it is simply a refusal to legitimize their cause and give them a title (terrorist) with which they all aspire to earn. I did a little bit of Information Operations in the Army when deployed and we would use material that labeled them as thugs as opposed to terrorists and "criminal act" as opposed to "terror act." Didn't want to give them the satisfaction.

I don't know when we all become obsessed with the act of terror label that seems to need to be applied everytime someone of middle eastern descent hurts somebody.

That whole Fox News panel was lazy and pedantic. You would have to be living under a rock to know that ISIS isn't a threat. They have been in the news for over a year with all of their atrocities publicized. We have been military engaged with them for almost a year and our current President is lobbying for more military action as we speak. To act like the ISIS thing is being ignored is patently untrue. The ISIS situation is going to be the lynchpin in the upcoming elections.

That whole statement is just more of Fox News finding the smallest of nits to pick. He called men from Egypt, "Egyptian citizens," wow what a monster.

UoT, good points, but I remember when the zero spoke at Georgetown, he made them cover up all of their Christian symbols, signs that had Jesus' name, and the like. I don't think Obama likes Christians.

I don't think he likes religion in general.

That could be.

I agree with the spirit of your post. If atheists were beheaded, we should be just as upset about it. Nobody's faith religion should not grant them a higher victim status than others.

Absolutely. Look, I get it, we are naturally going to sympathize a little more when it is our own but for these clowns to act like the President calling actual citizens of Egypt, "Egyptian citizens" like that is some sort of horrific slander is kind of ridiculous.

The problem is not what he did call them, but what he intentionally refused to include which is Christian. The reason it is important is because that is the reason they were killed. Obama's refusal to mention that is a betrayal to Christians. Period.

ISIS has been indiscriminately killing for years. They are opposed to Christianity and the Western ideology in general. Their immediate targets have mostly been Shiite muslims for obvious reasons. This is news to absolutely nobody. If you go searching for things to get offended by you'll usually find them. When they crucified shiite muslims in Raqqa last summer that were in dissent did you fly off the handle and call it an outrage that they didn't use the word "muslim" to describe the victims? Perspective Rev. You need it badly.
