    Unfortunately, men like him are a dime a dozen in islam. He will be easily replaced.

    Taking out generals (command and control), is still a good tactic. It worked well in the Revolutionary War and War of 1812. Many military units know not what to do without fearless, visible leadership.

    True, the circumstances are different in guerilla and terrorist operations.

    There is still a psych-war factor which is advantageous, even if only short-lived. Confused combatants are not very effective, and they make easier targets.

    Well this is more than a tactician. In this case this guy was calling himself a Caliph and providing a lot of the warped guidance that lay the foundation of ISIS.
