Oh, NOOOO!! She is one of my favorites. She can craft words like no one else. My prayers for the family.

Here's one of my favorite quotes from her. It meant a lot to me when I was wrangling with the idea of suffering.

FWIW, I still remember (quite vaguely by now--after all that happened back in Jan., 1956.) when the news arrived in the USA of her husband's martyrdom.

WPE3BQL was about 9.5 YO when this occurred, and some 10.5 years before he was saved.

It's amazing (to me at least) how one's memory can still recall things like this.

And Underneath Are the Everlasting Arms

I've appreciated Elisabeth Elliot for decades. I used to listen to her radio program as often as possible. I had an unbelieving friend who surprised me. She said that she listened to Elisabeth regularly. I said:"But you reject all the major claims of Christianty." She told me that she just loved the way Elisabeth spoke --that her diction was superb.

As Scarlett indicated-- E.E. was indeed a wordsmith.

I have a few of her books. After my last surgery in Jan. I borrowed A Chance To Die: The Life And Legacy Of Amy Carmichael. In my convalescence that was a joy to read. I think the author and Amy had a lot in common.

E.E.'s books will gain new readers when folks find out about her. Sometimes it takes a death for one to be discovered.
