American college of pediatricians on same-sex marriage ruling: ‘a tragic day for amer

In a statement released Friday, the president of the American College of Pediatricians said the Supreme Court’s decision to legalize same-sex marriage will have a significantly negative impact on children in the United States.

Dr. Michelle Cretella, president of the College, said:

[T]his is a tragic day for America’s children. The SCOTUS has just undermined the single greatest pro-child institution in the history of mankind: the natural family. Just as it did in the joint Roe v Wade and Doe v Bolton decisions, the SCOTUS has elevated and enshrined the wants of adults over the needs of children.

That's a pretty big reach considering that most gay/lesbian couples don't have kids unless it is through adoption. At which point the natural family ship had already sailed when their "actual" parents put them up for adoption. So it is kind of an ironic post considering that in most cases LGBT parents come through for the child when the natural family failed.

That's not a true statement, Use of Time. I know a few lesbian couples who have a pregnant partner, although I guess adoption is a preferred method (judging by commercials like the one for Wells Fargo, I think that this will be an increasing change to what was previously considered a "family unit"). Most may not have kids, at this time, but we cannot ignore the push to redefine family. Although I wish you were right, I disagree that this is "a pretty big reach." It's only a baby step and we're already in mid-stride.

The family is to be the Father and Mother. It is not to be minus one and double the other. It is a sad day when Christians are defending such evil.

 What is amazing to me is that the family unit has already been redefined by our culture and it went, largely, unnoticed. Christians sit back and enjoy being entertained by such immorality played out in their living rooms on TV, companies (e.g.,android and Wells Fargo) displays this in their commercials. By the time we take notice it is a part of our culture. Just like SSM, when it becomes "official" it will have already been considered "normal."

Yea....isn't that odd. Man I have been yellen about Christians not participating in the lives of "everyday people" for a while now & it falls on mostly deaf ears.....then suddenly it bites them on the arse

OK so are we tone deaf, ignorant to the plight of everyday people, or is it that we just don't care. I think all the above. I believe the "Church" as a collective group has been very comfortable doing their own thing & ignoring the rest. Is that love, is that the Christ we serve? I will tell you this, that until the church reaches out to those they have decided are not their own (into the community, to the destitute, to the alcoholics & drug addicts, to the marginalized & forgotten, to the homosexual & display the love of Christ), then the world will continue along its present path.

My statement was a true statement. I said most but I'm aware of the IVF route as well.

Nobody is doing that but you are doing the misrepresenting thing again. This is a woefully inaccurate article you posted with little to no scientific rationale. That is all.

There is nothing inaccurate about it. Your little objections are absurd. Children from broken homes should go to stable homes where there are two parents mom and dad. Sending them to homosexual homes only exacerbates the problems.

Suggesting that the children are in a better place being in homosexual homes is contrary to scripture and ungodly.

The American College of Pediatricians would certainly know more about it that you do.

Except there are countless kids that will go to no homes. That article did not list any shred of study or evaluation it just said it deliberately deprives them of a mother or father which is kind of an obvious statement that doesn't take any research really. There is absolutely no proof that sending adopted kids to same sex couples exacerbates any problems. Try talking to the parents that put their kids up for adoption if you so concerned about the nuclear family. It's amazing that you are overlooking that problem, which is the MAIN PROBLEM in this scenario.

The fact that you believe children should go into such ungodly homes under any conditions says more than anything else. God Bless

I hate to bring this to you, but just because a family has a mother and a father doesn't make it a Godly house. If that were the case then your argument should boil down to only allowing Christians to adopt kids.

Sending them to the evil perversion only exacerbates the problem and should never be condoned by Christians. I cannot believe there is a Christian on this board promoting such an idea or that it is even being allowed.

You'll have to be more specific as to what problems are exacerbated. The ideal situation would be for the kids to go to a hetero Christian couple but that's my religious preference. As for the this being some net loss for the kids I doubt that they would appreciate listening to their foster parents being slammed by someone who is willfully letting the biological parents off the hook.
