Texas attorney general calls court's gay marriage decision 'a lawless ruling'

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said he will defend state officials refusing to grant same-sex marriage licenses or perform weddings based on religious beliefs.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton defended the religious liberty of state employees in a statement Sunday, saying they would not have to issue marriage licenses or perform weddings for same-sex couples and called the Supreme Court’s Friday decision “a lawless ruling.”

    So.

And they need to be fined until the state is bankrupt or either they better hire some folks who will do their jobs.

He should be jailed and disbarred for encouraging them to break the law.

He won't be jailed , fired , or disbarred.

And some county clerk somewhere will refuse to issue a license to a same sex couple. I told you before that it will happen and it will.

It's the first amendment against a ruling with no basis in the Constitution.

There will be a lot of civil disobedience against this made up ruling. Texas will not be the only place.

The 14th amendment promises equal protection under the Law. The SCOTUS has already stated that pastors will not be required to violate their religious convictions - and so Pastors cannot be forced to participate in SSM ceremonies.

So then this presents an "Equal Protection" opportunity for bakers that find themselves under assault by an SSM attack against their business as long as they advertise their services in a similar way. Something like "we are a Christian owned business and we market to all customers that do not wish to violate our religious convictions".

Thus even atheists would be welcome customers - so long as they too did not wish to violate the religious convictions of the owners of that business.

Hood County clerk won't issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples

A North Texas county clerk said she has no intention of issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

Hood County Clerk Katie Lang released a statement Tuesday saying that she agrees with Attorney General Ken Paxton's opinion on the Supreme Court's ruling.

"We find that although it fabricated a new constitutional right in 2015, the Supreme Court did not diminish, overrule, or call into question the First Amendment rights to free exercise of religion that formed the first freedom in the Bill of Rights in 1791. This newly invented federal constitutional right to same-sex marriage should peaceably coexist alongside longstanding constitutional and statutory rights, including the right to free exercise of religion and speech," she said.

Lang told the Texas Tribune that she was standing up for her religious liberty and that she believes "marriage is for one man and one woman because it did derive from the Bible."

You're showing your foolish side. God hasn't told her to not do her job.. If she doesn't want to do what she was hired to do, then either quit or be fired.

Then recall her and the governor. Give both of them the boot and charge the state and that county $1 million per day of violation.

As if God is pleased with folks who cave in and sanction homosexual relationships as "marriage". God's laws are higher than man's.

The fact you want to recall a governor and an official, who stands for religious liberty and the truth against the Orwellian (not to mention blasphemous) decision of SCOTUS, is indeed rather telling, and it does show your true colors, all your self-righteous blustering notwithstanding.

A recall would fail and the governor is on her side.

    3 strikes, you're out.

Man hush. Yall the same group of folks who sanctioned a Jesus Christ rejecting Mormon to be your candidate for President.

You have no ground to stand upon to rebuke anyone about God's laws as much as the lot of you pick and choose what is conviction one day and non-conviction the next.

That's why I said let the Justice Department fine them and federally remove them.

    SO save your baseball analogies.

The Justice Department cannot fine anyone for anything and cannot remove a legally elected state or county official for anything. Period.

You're just running your mouth and thrashing about in frustration. You don't have a clue what you're talking about.
