Earth 2.0? Nasa finds ‘another Earth-like planet’ in the Milky Way

I find this interesting, too, though not particularly exciting. But I do like reading about new findings both in space and on our planet.
I couldn't help but giggle as I thought the author of the article jumped the gun a little on his excitement.
Yes, maybe plants could survive there. If their sun didn't emit too much radiation. If there is actual H2O there - in liquid form - that stays consistently pooled. If there is actual soil there - with the proper mineral ratio. The is no way to tell at this time and with this information if it is a rocky planet or not. They just assume so because of the size. It could be a planet of fool's gold with oceans of H2O2. :laugh: There is no evidence yet - from what I have read - of it's composition.
Anyway, we would have to travel in a spacecraft going 186,000 miles per second for 1,400 years just to go and plant those interstellar tulip bulbs.
But anyway, it is amazing how far astronomers are able to "see".

1. It could well be that the planet seen has already undergone a massive change since the current image we're seeing is 1400 years old.
2. If we leave now it will only take about 28 million years to get there using existing technology.

The report featured on public radio called Kepler 452B the most earthlike planet yet discovered. It also noted that the planet was 20% larger than earth and had estimated mass 5 times that of earth. My quick seat-of-pants guess is that gravity at its surface would be twice that of earth, which would have profound effects on conditions there.
