    Vladimir Putin:
"In Russia live Russians. Any minority, from anywhere, if it wants to live in Russia, to work and eat in Russia, should speak Russian, and should respect the Russian laws. If they prefer Sharia Law, and live the life of Muslims then we advise them to go to those places where that's the state law. Russia does not need Muslim minorities. Minorities need Russia, and we will not grant them special privileges, or try to change our laws to fit their desires, no matter how loud they yell 'discrimination'. We will not tolerate disrespect of our Russian culture. We had better learn from the suicides of America, England, Holland and France, if we are to survive as a nation. The Muslims are taking over those countries and they will not take over Russia. The Russian customs and traditions are not compatible with the lack of culture or the primitive ways of Sharia Law and Muslims. When this honorable legislative body thinks of creating new laws, it should have in mind the Russian national interest first, observing that the Muslim minorities are not Russians.

    Sounds sensible to me.

But the Snopes link states that it is a false quote (for the most part)

<sip of MD> ROFL. Very good Salty.

I was in Valencia, Spain several years ago, walking in a botanical garden. A fellow walked up to my me and started talking ... in Spanish of course. My wife told him that I did not speak Spanish. He launched into a heated speech that if I was going to live in Spain I should learn Spanish.

Frankly, I agreed with him ... but I didn't and do not live in Spain.

Ah yes, the oft-used concept of quoting someone despicable to you if they happen to agree with you on one pet issue.

I wonder what Putin says about distributing Bibles in Russia?

What about Western missionaries coming to Russia?

So you agree that someone wanting to live in Spain should speak Spanish...

But not that someone wanting to live in the U.S. should speak English?

    Care to explain?

I predict that this will be one of the thousands of ? asked of him/her that will die of old age before being addressed; at least with a sensible, logical, understandable answer.:sleep:

So one should only quote those with whom one agrees with on every single issue?
